"Amy..."
The man's voice was strained as he called out her name, and Amelia suddenly raised her hand to cover the man's thin lips, stopping his next words in his mouth.
Her eyes, distinctly black and white, stared unblinkingly at the man's handsome face, and she said in a cheerful tone with a soft voice, "You don't need to say anymore. I'm very strong. Even without you, I can live well."
But as soon as her words ended, tears unexpectedly rolled down from her eyes.
At that moment, Daniel Cooper's chest shuddered, and a heavy, suppressed voice struggled out from his throat, "Amy, don't be like this..."
The drops of the woman's tears fell one by one onto the back of his stiff hand, yet it felt as if each drop was sulfuric acid corroding his heart.
"Daniel Cooper, stop acting like this too."
