Before Amelia could speak, Daniel Cooper chuckled and said, "Professor Carlson, she means that she's no longer in clinical practice and has shifted to drug development."
Professor Carlson smiled, "I see, whether it's wielding a scalpel or developing drugs, both contribute to saving lives and serve humanity, so it's not like leaving the medical profession altogether. So, Mr. Cooper and my student are... friends?"
Daniel smoothly replied, "She's now the mother of my son."
Amelia, "..."
She found herself unable to refute it.
A flicker of surprise crossed Professor Carlson's eyes, and he then laughed, "I never expected that the little girl from back then is already married with a child. Time really does fly."
He merely expressed a sentiment but offered no further congratulations.
Amelia was a bit surprised by her professor's attitude; back when she was a student, Professor Carlson had treated her quite specially, almost like a father would his daughter.
