Ten minutes later, the house quieted down.
Milton White opened his eyes, switched on the bedside lamp, and found himself in a guest room of Chloe Collins's house.
It was silent outside, no one around.
He walked to the balcony, looking at the fork in the road not far away. The girl was leaning against the man's waist, their intimacy evident.
He emitted a self-deprecating sneer, a trace of sorrow flashing in his eyes. He looked away, at the repeated red marks on his wrists, left by handcuffs.
"If I can't have it, then destroy it."
In the darkness, a mysterious voice echoed in his ear.
His eyes suddenly turned cold, he turned back into the room, left a message of departure, then walked out of the house.
