"Is Mr. Cobb joking?"
Amelia Cobb picked up her tea cup and blew on it, preparing to take a sip: "Director Benjamin, this is not the time for jokes."
Her implication was that she wasn't joking.
"Or perhaps there's another way for Director Benjamin - asking Miss Shire for forgiveness directly is more practical."
Amelia's words landed without an answer.
There was a knock on the office door.
"Come in."
"Mr. Cobb," Betty Harrison called to her from the doorway.
Amelia apologized for the interruption, and got up to go out.
Betty deliberately lowered her voice to speak to Amelia: "President Robinson sent over a lot of scones."
Normally, she would have accepted it.
It is said that this shop is a century-old institution, with only three branches in the entire capital.
It's usually hard to buy and difficult to queue up for.
Obviously, a lot of effort went into it.
But now that the two were divorced, President Robinson suddenly sent her something and she didn't know what to do.
