At the red light countdown, Christopher Robinson lifted Amelia Cobb's hand to his lips and kissed it gently, whispering, "Sit tight."
Amelia withdrew her hand and obediently sat down.
Christopher drove while occasionally chatting with Amelia.
"Hasn't John returned yet?" Christopher recalled the phone call from Antony Brown today.
"No," Amelia answered casually, "Did Antony ask you about him?"
"Hmm," Christopher hummed vaguely in agreement.
Amelia pursed her lips, running her fingers through her hair, "He's really acting like both a father and a mother. He's grown up now, can I possibly eat him alive?"
Amelia mumbled, recalling Antony's expression and couldn't help but shake her head.
It seemed pointless, really pointless.
Christopher reached out and patted her head.
It was like consolation.
