Perhaps not wanting Christopher Robinson to see their current state, she let go of Kallie Rayno's hand and went inside.
"What's wrong?" As soon as she pushed the door open, she saw Christopher leaning against the head of the bed, his body exuding an aura of evil.
"Where were you?" The man's voice was husky.
"I went to get a drink of water and had a brief chat with mom outside," Amelia replied softly.
The door was half-closed, neither shut nor opened.
She didn't want Kallie to hear too much.
She walked to the side of the bed, adjusted the blanket beside Christopher, and asked, "Do you want to lie down for a while?"
What she meant was that she hadn't finished talking with Kallie.
Christopher seemed somewhat displeased, his gaze on Amelia sullen.
Perhaps Amelia understood his thoughts, so she leaned down and kissed his thin lips. She gave a gentle hum in his way, with a hint of inquiry.
Only then did Christopher let it go.
