Christopher Robinson leaned against the bed, his eyebrows tightly furrowed together. Madeline Carter brought him a bowl of porridge, placing it by his side.

"Who let you in?" The man's eyes remained closed, his words carrying a hint of blame and discontent.
"Christopher, I am your mother," Madeline Carter reminded him of this fact almost pleadingly, as if she had been slapped.
Kallie Rayno was free to come and go at Orchard Garden, while she, an outsider, had no right to do so.
