March thunderstorms were extremely rare.
Yet, Amelia experienced one that day.
A muffled thunderclap jolted Amelia awake from her nightmare, and she gasped for air, sitting up in bed while clutching her blanket.
In her dream, Amelia's old self had returned and demanded her body.
The vividness of the dream almost made it impossible for her to wake up.
In the walk-in closet, Christopher Robinson froze while putting on his shirt, fearing his late-night movement had disturbed Amelia. He braced for a torrent of scolding, but instead, silence filled the air.
Turning around, he saw Amelia sitting on the bed, her hair disheveled and her gaze unsteady.
Christopher rushed over and pulled her into his arms. His deep voice helped guide her back to reality.
"Did you have a nightmare?"
Amelia took a deep breath, as if every part of her body had returned to its place. She hugged Christopher tightly and buried her face in his chest, nodding.
