Kallie Rayno hung up the phone and looked at Amelia Cobb, lying weak and gasping for breath on the bed.
Tears flowed involuntarily down her cheeks.
Such pain was simply indescribable; she had already lost one daughter in her life, and she was unsure if she could bear to lose a second.
But she knew that, right now, she needed to save Amelia.
And at the moment, her only option was Christopher Robinson.
"Water," Iris Yael forced the door open and poured Kallie a cup of water.
Kallie wiped away her tears and reached out to take it.
"If no perfect solution is found in time, you're welcome to stay here for the time being. I won't call the police."
Kallie looked at Iris Yael, unsure of the right thing to say. To express gratitude?
Well, that didn't seem right, because Amelia was, in essence, Iris Yael's daughter.
Not to thank her?
But Iris Yael didn't know any of this.
In the end, Kallie choked out a thank you to Iris Yael.
