Why can't those ten years compare to that half year?
Sophia Jackson smiled bitterly, tears welling up in her eyes.
However, she appeared calm; even though her former statement was filled with her unwillingness, she did not scream hysterically. Instead, she uttered these words quietly.
"Big brother, I don't think I should stay for dinner tonight. Thanks for the offer of clothes," Sophia said, looking down. She then turned and walked away.
Jack Smith called after her, "Sophia."
Sophia stopped in her tracks, and Jack followed her. "If you're feeling bitter and resentful, take it all out on me."
Sophia Jackson smiled faintly. "What does it have to do with you? Can you make Frank Smith love me?"
Jack Smith: "I can try."
Sophia looked surprised and met Jack's cold gaze.
A moment later, her smile deepened. "For Frank, you, as his brother, really go all out."
Sophia didn't take Jack's words seriously at all.
