The Tibetan Mastiff didn't bark at her, nor did it show any enthusiasm - rather, it gazed out at the world like a child confined indoors.
Lyra acted prudently, knowing she shouldn't hastily approach such a large dog. Some dogs that seem docile will latch onto you with their teeth if you get too close. After repeated tests of the Tibetan Mastiff's patience and establishing it had never barked at her, she dared to slowly come closer.
But she still dared not touch it.
That is until she once again approached, and the giant mastiff lay down, its head touching the ground.
Even though Lyra doesn't have a pet, she had a basic understanding of what this meant.
The mastiff was showing friendliness, indicating it was smooth sailing.
Petrified of misunderstanding the signal, Lyra cautiously stroked the mastiff's head. The first time, no reaction; the second time, still no reaction. After a few tries, Lyra finally confirmed that this Tibetan Mastiff bore her no ill will.
