"Lyra."
Mikel said her name softly.
Lyra looked at Mikel not far away. She could only watch him like this, not daring to look directly into his eyes. Overwhelming guilt crushed her, making her breathless and making her wish for death...
She heard Mikel say, "Haven't you always wanted to see my true face? Now, I'll show you my true face."
Lyra shook her head.
Mikel asked, "You're shaking your head? So you don't want to see it now?"
Lyra continued to shake her head. Although she could speak normally, she felt as if she was about to lose her voice, only able to make sobbing sounds. That was her anguished wailing.
Mikel still removed the mask from his face. With practiced ease, he took off the mask that had been perfectly fitted to his face. As the thin layer of the mask fell into his palm, he looked at Lyra: "You see, this is what I look like. It's not quite what you imagined, is it?"
Lyra was taken aback.
This was the first time she had seen Mikel's true appearance.
