Lyra Smith came out from the room, searching up and down for Uncle Wu, but she couldn't find him anywhere. She nearly bumped into Hector.
At that moment, Hector stood at the bottom of the corridor steps, slouched against a wall with a cigarette in his hand. The bright and dim glow of the burning tip flared intermittently, as he flicked his fingers, sprinkling ash onto the ground.
Worried about being seen without her mask by Hector, Lyra Smith decided to leave the area.
Just as she was about to turn away, she heard Hector speaking: "Morris, are we really not going to investigate that woman? She strikes me as odd, and I think it's safer to background check her."
Initially, Morris Jackson was in the bedroom next to Lyra's, ready to rest. Before he could lie down, he was called out by Hector, who said he had something to discuss with him.
Morris wasn't interested in engaging him, but he didn't have anything else to do, so he changed his clothes and came down.
