Lyra gave a soft hum and then obediently waited.
The call wasn't disconnected. She could hear faint rustling noises and footsteps from the receiver, followed by Morris's voice. She couldn't hear everything clearly, except for 'I'll be there soon', but she roughly understood that he was informing someone that he had to leave due to some business.
Then, she heard the sound of many chairs being moved, accompanied by people standing up, each saying: "Take care, Mr. Jackson."
A few dozen seconds later, she could hear Morris giving Ivan a clear instruction: "Prepare the car."
Without asking further questions, Ivan immediately contacted Cole.
Lyra knew that Morris had already put his cellphone back to his ear and asked, "Uncle, have you left the dinner party?"
He replied, "Mhmm."
Lyra asked again, "Are you going home now?"
Morris replied, "No."
