Erwin Jackson smirked, clearly not believing Lyra Smith's words.
He spoke disdainfully, "It was you who were so eager to marry me in the first place, and you who refused to dissolve the engagement. Now you're telling me you're willing to end our engagement, Lyra? Do you think it's fun to tease me like this?"
"I'll dissolve the engagement as soon as possible."
Lyra spoke quietly and didn't linger. She turned and left.
Erwin Jackson stood there, watching Lyra walk away, a puzzled expression on his face. He didn't think her words were genuine, after all, it was because of her grandfather's support that she had insisted on choosing him.
But he didn't care.
His heart had long been given to the girl who had accompanied him for ten days and nights through a closed door when he was young and seriously ill. So many years had passed, and he was still searching for her tirelessly.
He didn't know when he would find her.
