Sophia didn't return to the Jackson Family immediately after coming back to her country.
Her parents didn't know about her gunshot wound in Nanzhao yet, mainly because she was worried about them being too concerned. Only Lyra and Morris knew of her injury so far.
When Sophia saw Lyra again more than a month later, the first thing she said was, "I can't believe you're not showing yet!"
Lyra stuck out her belly and showed it to Sophia, "It's almost five months, isn't it obvious?"
Sophia laughed, "If you hadn't said five months, I would have thought you just gained some weight on your face."
In the past, Lyra would definitely have been arm in arm with Sophia, asking her all sorts of questions.
But now she didn't dare.
She carefully helped Sophia sit down, being cautious not to touch her injured shoulder blade, "It must have hurt a lot."
"It hurts," Sophia replied, "But it taught me a lesson."
