Sophia Jackson woke up.
Jane said that she was halfway into the gates of the underworld, and he had managed to snatch her back from the Lord of the Underworld himself.
Sophia's face was covered with an oxygen mask, unable to speak. If she could talk, she would have praised Jane a couple of times to inflate his ego.

"The bullet went through your right chest."
"If it had gone through the left side, it would've pierced your heart. Even the gods couldn't save you then, and we would have had to say a hurried farewell and promise to meet again in the next life."

The side effects of the pain pump caused drowsiness, and Sophia's eyelids struggled to stay open. Her eyes closed and she fell into a deep sleep.
She wasn't sure how long she slept.
In her groggy state, she seemed to hear Frank Smith's voice.
