Morris Jackson raised his hand, and Lyra Smith couldn't get her phone.
Lyra immediately became nervous, "Uncle, my phone."
"I know." He looked at her anxious little face, "Are you worried that I'll answer your call?"
Lyra was at a loss for words. If she admitted to being worried, it would be like admitting guilt; but if she said she wasn't worried, what if her uncle really answered her phone? Wait... she didn't even know who was calling.
"Uncle, can... can you tell me who's calling?" she asked.
Morris Jackson returned the phone to Lyra, "See for yourself."
Before Lyra could take the phone, she noticed the caller ID on the screen: it was from Sophia Jackson.
She took the phone from his hand and quickly went to the bathroom.
With the door closed, she leaned against it and looked at the disconnected call. She locked the door, turned on the faucet, and the sound of rushing water filled the room. Then she redialed Sophia.
