Not knowing how to respond, Lyra wanted to bury her head and pretend to be dead.
Then she heard Mikel Anderson remind her, "Lyra, don't forget you're a married woman."
Lyra stuck her neck out, "I haven't done anything wrong, and besides, you know what my relationship with Erwin Jackson is like - I'm his aunt."
Lyra couldn't mention that Erwin had suffered from autism as a child in front of Mikel Anderson. That was Erwin's secret. She had no reason to reveal it to others after she found out.
After all, Erwin Jackson is a public figure, and it wouldn't be good for even a little rumor to get out.
Mikel stopped the conversation on that topic: "Fine, let's not talk about why you two were hugging. Let's talk about another issue."
Lyra swallowed her saliva, wondering what else there was to discuss.
