"Isn't that right?" Lyra said playfully.
Erwin Jackson looked stern: "Lyra!"
"Alright, I know. It's because you're responsible." Lyra stood up and said, "Let me pour you a glass of water."
Every guest room was stocked with disposable cups. Lyra took a new disposable cup, poured a glass of water and handed it to Erwin Jackson: "Here."
"Thank you." When Erwin Jackson received the cup, he noticed a bandage on Lyra's neck. He asked, "What happened to your neck?"
Lyra, who wasn't trying to hide it, calmly said, "A furry little bug fell from a tree and landed on my neck. It was so itchy, I scratched it until it was red and raw. I was afraid of it getting infected, so I put a gauze pad on it. It's no big deal."
Lyra didn't think Ella would admit to what happened, so she felt there was no need for Erwin Jackson to know the truth.
But Erwin Jackson was no fool, he could tell that Lyra was making up a lie to deceive him.
He didn't expose her, and asked softly, "Does it hurt?"
