The car slowly pulled up, stopping at the bottom of the stairs.
Ivan exited the car and stood by the rear passenger door, patiently waiting.
Lyra had thought a lot about her question, but Morris Jackson's response was another matter. She was both excited and uneasy, her whole body tense from head to toe.
"Come." He reached out to her.
Lyra bowed her head, looking at his extended palm. Without hesitation, she placed her hand in his.
Morris held her hand as they stepped down the stairs, with Ivan promptly opening the car door. Lyra didn't get in the car and looked at him puzzled; he gestured to her, "Get in first."
Lyra stayed silent and got into the car without a word.
Inside the car.
Ivan asked, "Mr. Jackson, do we head back to the De Jing Villa, or to Wing?"
Morris had been away on business for two days, and with Driver White on vacation, Ivan took on the role of driver.
Upon hearing Ivan's question, Lyra wondered why he was asking about going "back."
