"Alright, I'll come back," he replied.
To his quick response, Lyra panicked and immediately said, "I was just kidding, don't come back."
There was silence on the other end for a dozen seconds. No sound of him speaking made Lyra more anxious, fearing that he might book a flight back just because of her ridiculous 'I want to see you' comment.
"Morris Jackson, I was really joking. Finish your work and then come back!" Her voice raised, fearing he wouldn't hear her.
Morris said, "There's no joking on my end. I take it seriously."
Lyra was speechless.
Fearing that he might really come back just for her, she thought for a moment and apologized: "I'm sorry, I won't make jokes like that anymore."
At this moment, Morris suddenly said, "You just called my name."
"Mm-hmm." Lyra knew.
In her hurry earlier, she had forgotten to call him Uncle Wu and had just called him by his name. She secretly thought in her heart that he probably wouldn't notice this detail...
