Chapter 5 - Dangerous gang

Ikulore led the most dangerous gang in the city of Lagos. They were known to other gangs as well. The underworld of crime has it's own hierarchy, and those at the bottom are very conversant with those at the top.

Beyond Ikulore's gang, there existed person's with higher devotion to deities, but these people were into politics, not armed robbery. The death of Ikoulore was a threat to them, and they decided to avenge his death. The only problem was, their deities adviced against it.

Cheif Olamiwaniokunkun was one man who was in close proximity to Ikulore. Ikulore handled his dirty work, and Chief Olams funded his work. I'm calling Chief Olamiwaniokunkun "Chief Olams" from now on, because his name is long, and it has a dark meaning. It's Yoruba and in English, it translates to this; "My wealth is in darkness".

The police arrived the scene and there was a wave of confusion. Nothing was adding up. There were three dead men on the floor, two were covered in bullet holes as blood flowed from their bodies, but there was no single bullet hole on their clothes. The third man was also dead, but there was no sign of physical injury. Some organic matter could be seen on the floor as well.

And there I was, in a security guard uniform, riddled with holes, but not a single mark on my body, neither a single drop of blood. I was invited to the station for questioning, and just like the case with red, they couldn't make sense of anything I said.

Just like it was back in secondary School, I was always speaking the truth, but after the changes in my body, the truth made me look like a mad man.

They concluded that I had been traumatized by the event and I was miraculously unhurt, so I was given an appointment with a psychiatrist and I was free to go.

I arrived home that morning with a change of clothes just as my family began morning Devotion. As though the writer of the devotional knew what would happen that day, the topic was , "God our protector".

Later in the day my family got wind of the news, and that evening became a period of Thanksgiving. My mom also made me quit the job, because she was scared something like that would happen again. After all, she had only two children.

The way I felt growing up, I thought she didn't need any children. The bank paid me for the one week I spent working there, and with that money, I got myself some books about money. Being financially literate was something I liked.

I shuffled between reading my school books and reading my financial books until I finished reading my school books and started reading on finances alone.

One afternoon, with only one week to resumption for the second semester, a bottle of black ink poured all over my mind. I was reading " The psychology of money" by Morgan Housel when I noticed the top of the book was covered in ink.

I looked up at the ceiling thinking the ink was dripping from there, but I saw nothing. I looked back at my book and saw the ink slowly going down the page. I turned the book upside down in an attempt to make the ink flow back, but strangely, not only did it continue flowing upwards against the law of gravity, but another pool of ink appeared at the lower end of the book and started flowing downward.

I got up, put the book on the table and watched as ink flowed all over my book from two points. The moment the ink swallowed my book, it began to flow unto the table.

Trying to understand what was going on, I went round the table in an attempt to understand what the ink was and where it came from. As I completed a circle round the table, my eye noticed ink flowing down the four walls of the room.

It was at this moment I looked round and discovered that the door was gone. I was trapped in a room that was filling up with ink and there was no exit.

As the ink flowed unto the ground from the walls, I realized something. Everything the ink had covered began to disappear. I tried to touch them, but they were no longer there, they were nowhere. The ink that was steadily flowing was like the entrance to a portal, and it was sucking everything in.

Eventually, I was in a pool of ink as the room began to fill up with the ink. I began to believe that someone else with powers was doing this to me, so I decided to drown myself in the ink and see what would happen.

I crouched as though I wanted to write something on the floor. This made my head go below the ink level. As I went below and into the ink, I expected to see blackness all around me, but the moment I crouched, I saw myself in the middle of an arena.

It looked like a scene from a gladiator movie. There were thousands of people in the audience, cheering and making noises. I didn't understand their language, but all of a sudden, they all stopped. The entire arena became silent.

I was confused. I looked around trying to understand what made them keep quiet, and I realized all eyes were fixed on me. I looked at myself and realized that I was was covered in a strange sort of armor.

It was like a cockroach costume, but every part of it was made of metal. The color, the shape, it was as though I was a walking cockroach.

A door opened to my far right, and a man dressed in Golden armor came out of the door. He had his sword by his waist, a shield on his back and both if them were covered in gold.

Two men followed him, they had the same set of armor as the one in front, but the two of them were covered in silver. As they walked towards me, I realized they were far larger than humans. I thought they were human when they were afar off, but as they came closer, they were as giants.

The three stopped when they got within a feet of me, and like knights bowing before their king, the three bowed themselves. They put a knee to the ground and rested on the other. Even in this posture, they were still as tall as I was.

Goldie spoke up. Yes, I'm calling him Goldie. Also, the two guys that followed, one had long hair, like those archers in medieval movies, so I'll call him "Long silver", and the other one "short silver", because he had short hair. So Goldie spoke up.

"As the battle begins, we await your orders, Master"

What battle? And how am I his master?
