'I... Didn't... Die?'
Chleo couldn't help but mutter in his mind as he began to recall what happened
'What the heck?'
Chleo couldn't help but be stunned as snippets of memory began to converge and form a complete the series of event that happened.
He already thought that he's dead, the last thing he saw was him almost being hit by a truck. Good thing it stopped and yet before he could get a sigh of relief in that raining day the sky began to roar as it converge and he... was struck by lightning?
'I was struck by lightning, right?... Why aren't there any scar in my body?'
Another puzzling question, Chleo couldn't help but ask himself as he glance at his body. There was no scar, what is more strange is the fact that he isn't in a hospital bed... which was unusual and confusing.
Imagine being struck by lightning and finding that you are not in a hospital bed nor are there any scar on your body... Isn't that terrifying?
'Or maybe this is the afterlife?'
Chleo couldn't help but think at that is the greatest possibility and yet... That answer is also shattered as he glance in the room...
This room, looks familiar?... It looks like his apartment back in high school...
Another possibility cross his mind as he begin to inspect the room... He looked at the date and found himself 16 years in the past...
'So I came back?'
Chleo couldn't help but feel nostalgic about this familiar room... This was the room he used back in high school, a symbol of his innocence, naivety, and ambition full of vitality and vigor an untainted individual of the world only to gradually be tainted by it as he left the protection and embrace of safety towards the world where weak are eaten and strong reign supreme.
'But for what purpose?'
Thoughts keep running his mind... He's in a state of confusion, everything happened so quickly... He discovered his wife cheating... In absentmindedness, almost got hit by a truck... Survived, well almost as he got struck by lightning... Accepted death but found himself alive and is probably 16 years in the past which would probably in his first year of high school...
Then what should he do?
A part of him wanted revenge for everything that happened, as no doubt that his wife for some reason is directly and indirectly a huge factor for his death along with her partner... It would naturally be alright since the reason for his death is them.
The anger, disappointment, sadness, helplessness he feel in his heart is still there... it's just overshadowed by the shadow of shock and rollercoaster of event that had happened...
It is understandable as when the only person you devoted yourself into, the sacrifices you made as a heir to choose and fight for the love you treasure is then found out to be all a lie, wouldn't you also feel the same?
Your memories together was all a lie, nothing but a lie... wouldn't you also be devastated?
Yet a part of him doesn't, His youthful self and consciousness which was untainted has his own untainted principles:
Isn't he already compensated with another life, Is there really any point in finding the anger in his heart and getting revenge? Apart from that a thought that the person in this world are innocent is also an undisputable truth as everything that happened in the future or should we call it the past are yet to happen, his death and demise is yet to happen.
Should he forgive and forget or should he stubbornly make them pay in this life in compensation from the once he lost?... Two thoughts clash not letting one win over the other.
He couldn't help lament about how contradictory thoughts are fighting in his mind...
It takes several minutes as Chleo lay there motionless thinking until it finally happened... The two consciousness became one... and the conclusion he came up to is to:
'Forget it let's just let what happened pass. Past is the past, let's strive for another future... Let's just try and gradually forget what happened and strive for a new future. For the greatest vengeance is to live happily, right?'
As his thoughts began to organize and decide his future endeavor, he couldn't help but found his silly thoughts at the back of his mind amusing...
'If one is to travel back in the past, from that point of timeline is what the future hold should be called the past or future?'
