Lady Amanda
The sight was not a very pleasant one to be honest. Lady Amanda could see the twisted neck and broken bones, basically shattered to be honest, the skull that had been cracked open like an egg and the visible sign of puke on his clothes and shoes. It seemed like while everyone was too busy with one thing or the other, Emefiele had gone and gotten himself killed due to taking drugs and alcohol at the same time, while walking too close to the rails.
As the guards cleaned up the mess, she looked up at the friends of the kid and saw them whispering furiously with one another, from her position she could clearly hear the saying that they had warned the boy and even advised him to stay with them so that they could all leave together. One thing she knew about teenage boys was that they hated doing as told as was in the case of the Prince who had surprisingly enough, taken on about 30 Saints, wounded 15 to the point where they ran the risk of being maimed, and had been able to keep the others at bay. He was impressive she would give him that, and he had been smart enough to get close and personal with them, not giving them the space to do shit with their hands, something told her that he had been trained by the best and from how chummy he was with his sister, even more so in public than ever before, she could hazard a guess that his sister had taught him a trick or two in secret.
Looking back on the night before, she could also remember seeing Elswyth being taken away by her brother and lover, both of them trying to cover her nakedness, which had struck her as odd while she put an end to Dominic's madness. Something was off about the five of them, first it was Dominica, then Curtis, Derek and then Elswyth, with the Prince once more forgetting his lessons, all five of them were acting out of the ordinary and she had no idea why.
Of course she had asked the Prince while whipping him with an even more painful whip, why his sister and new group of friends were behaving differently, but as was expected, he gave no answers; and now by dawn they had another dead body within a week. Something was afoot at the Tower and she was at a loss of what to do.
Looking up, she heard the trumpet of a rider announcing the arrival of the King who was not too far behind. The trumpets sent a shiver down her spine as she dreaded the king's arrival at the Tower, she feared what he could do as did any rational person in the Tower, and her fear was logical. Taking a deep breath, she straightened her hair and dress before turning to look at the others who all put their game faces on. All of them including the Royal Twins, but what was unique this time around though, was the fact that the Prince and Princess stood together, her in front with him hugging her from behind; they were not even trying to hide anything any longer it seemed.
"His Royal Majesty, King Amos Okorie III, King of Syera and Lord of the Seas." The herald shouted at the top of his longs from the side of the gate he had alighted at.
Moments after that, the King came riding in with his entourage of Ministers and Lords all there to dole out the greatest punishment they could conceive, unto the Prince and probably the other wayward children. The ground vibrated in anticipation as the horses came to a stop in front of the Chief Inquisitor, as if the air itself could feel what was coming next, even the birds vacated the area, the waters stilled and the breeze came to a stop.
The king got down his horse and looked at his son with the most intimidating glare she had ever seen a parent give their offspring. The reaction was instant, as the Prince who had somehow being getting back his voice as a Prince, the kid who had just had his defiance as a Royal back into him, became a ghost. His face became white, even though his skin was anything but, his defiance was gone and his knees gave out.
As if struck by a boulder, he went on his knees, losing all power over his limbs as he knelt down with his head bowed in total submission. "Hey, snap out of it." His sister said in panic as she knelt down and tried to shake him out of his trance.
It was quite sad to watch the boy who had glared at her all through the whipping, yelling in pain at times but not even stooping so low as to beg, look like a kicked puppy. The king nodded his head in satisfaction before he walked straight to the kneeling boy and placed a hand on his daughter's shoulders. "Don't worry my daughter, I will rid the world of your brother and his infection on those around him."
Ignoring her sniffle and glare, he turned to address everyone. "My son has been a blight on this school as I had feared he would be to anyone who spoke to him with anything but contempt, that is why I will rid the world of him once and for all." He said with a big smile that was well welcomed by the audience. "My son not just poisoned my daughter, he poisoned Curtis out of jealousy and went on to poison Derek and Elswyth Odukoya, this must stop and it shall be stopped tonight." With a confident smile, he turned to face his son who was still on his knees with his sister's arms wrapped around him. The Princess was weeping quite seriously on behalf of the Prince who just held her arms and stared into nothing. "Son, tonight you shall receive exactly what I promised to grant unto you when the time was ripe." He then knelt before his son to whisper something into his ears, something even the Princess heard if her outraged gasp was anything to go by.
Lady Amanda then proceeded to watch the Head Mistress invite the King and his entourage into the Tower, well, if she were the Prince the next move was as obvious to her as anything; she would either escape or kill the King. If the Royal Twins did decide to kill the King the only question she was asking herself was if she would do anything to stop them or to help them.
*******************************
The hallway was full of life as she walked through the hallways and into an elevator that would take her straight to the King's designated room which was at the highest point of the mega structure called the Tower. On the journey to the top, all she could think about was the Prince's reaction to his father. Sure she and the rest of the nation new of his father's hatred for his son, but she had never seen the King in any scene actually look at his son like that. She had heard him speak about the boy with derision and disgust, but seeing the King actually have no parental love for the kid was a bit jarring; especially since the King was well known for his generosity and kindness to the less fortunate.
Releasing a sigh, she walked out of the elevator that opened into the hallway that was devoid of any student save for Paladins and some guards. It didn't take long for her to get to the King's room and knock at the door. Moments later, she was in.
"Just in time Lady Amanda, just in time." The King said with a nod of contemplation as he opened a book that contained the laws of Syera that not even the King could break. "We have a dilemma here, you see according to succession, regardless of how unqualified the heir to the throne is, the moment the King dies, his son becomes King. There is a way to bypass it of course and that is by having the King's daughter get married and have her husband take the throne after the King is gone. Obviously the daughter has to be older than the son in order for this to work but that is not the problem between my children."
"So what service can I offer here sire; you have pretty much figured everything out?" She asked as she entered the room full of ministers and lords, all willing to aid and abet the king in his plan to execute his son without much political problem.
The situation was different now than when the Prince was a child, then a little accident could have done the job for the king and there would not be too much of a fuss about it, but now that he was all grown up and had reached the age where he was now the Crown Prince, well it was not so easy anymore. Of course he could hang for kissing his sister, but that could garner sympathies against the King, incest was after all still practiced in Syera, the northerners could come together and fight against the southerners and install the Princess as Queen, which is what the King would not want happening.
"You have been here for a sennight, surely you know every male Saint in this Tower that is worthy of being married to my daughter." The King asked.
Taking a deep breath, she approached the table and looked at the noblemen present before looking at the King. "Well, there is Derek Odukoya from a prominent family that as you know not only owns the ships at the east of Syera but is in your council. Then we have Collins Ahmed, his father is your financial advisor and his family owns the biggest bank in Syera. We also have Solomon Ujunwa, his mother is the richest woman in Syera, second only to the Queen, and his family owns the largest trading company in the nation. All these three are malleable boys that your daughter could mold if she so desired to, hence no fear on your part for your daughter's future."
"I like the Derek boy, despite the fact that my son corrupted him into disgracing his family's name just like my son poisoned my daughter against me." The King said before he clapped his hands in finality. "Tonight I will announce the betrothal of my daughter to the boy and after that, I will execute my son." He said to the agreement of everyone in the room, everyone but her. The King was being insane at the moment and there was nothing she could do since she owed her fortune to his grace.
