Humanity was a mistake.
Time and time again, they have proven themselves to be labeled as such. It was frustrating, watching over them. They were the very embodiment of chaos itself, and to have an entire planet full of them?
It was no different from Hell.
Pain and suffering reigned over the world because of them, because of the atrocities they have committed, and the blasphemy they preached. It was worth wondering why God bothered to even create them, but as a being created by God as well, I could not find the courage to ask...
God had said to me once, that the main reason I exist is to serve him. He deemed me to be his invincible shield, and to be his sharpest blade, who would protect the planet and all those who inhabit it.
I tried at first.
I tried to fulfill the duty I was given. I slayed all the foreign threats that invaded God's sacred grounds, and defended Earth from those who coveted it. For thousands of years, I tried. I accomplished my task. I fulfilled my duty...
But the humans....
"Die, you bastard!!"
"Eat lead, you fat pig!!"
....they waged war against each other.
While I fought long and hard to preserve their race, they turned their blades at each other and fought, slaughtered, poisoned, and butchered their own kind. I did not understand it then. I could not, even when I tried. For what reason would you harm your own kin? Do you not love them? Do you not care for them? I was tempted to ask them, I was tempted to ask God.
But I didn't. I couldn't.
My lips remained sealed and shut, unable to utter a single word. I was but a mere shield and sword. My only duty was to protect and eliminate the enemies of God, and not his children.
So I watched.
I observed them.
I remained patient as I tried my best to understand them. But I couldn't. I was not able to. No matter how hard I tried, It was impossible for me to understand their nature. But I was able to understand one thing about them. An absolute truth that held true to every human on Earth.
They were slaves to their desires.
They would do anything. Be it killing their brothers, murdering millions, or even destroying the world itself to fulfill what they desired. And that is exactly what happened...

[ Cause of Destruction — A human ascended to Godhood. ]
It was laughable. Despicable, even. To go against our Creator like that was an unforgivable act, an act that ultimately labeled that human as an enemy of God...
So I cut him down.
I sliced his limbs, crushed his bones, and drained him of all his blood. He was an Ascendant, a higher being of this world, but compared to me who has lived for far longer than any living being on Earth, he was but a mere child. It did not take me long to dispose of him, and with God's permission, I disposed of his followers as well...
That day, the world burned.
Fire rained from the sky, and storms of ash swept through the Earth's surface, killing every living being on the planet.
It was the end of the world, the first Apocalypse.
By then, I had thought God had deemed humanity's creation as a mistake, the same as I had. But I was wrong. For reasons even I could not fathom, God had given them another chance. He created them once more and released them unto the world, and with that, they thrived...
They conquered the land, the seas, and the sky itself.
I was hopeful. I was optimistic. I had thought the same tragedy would not happen again...
But then it did.
Humanity turned their blades at each other once more.
Millions died, and millions of souls were reaped. At that point, I was at the peak of my frustration. I just hoped, I really did, that humanity would not commit the same sin as their previous civilization did, for even I, God's eternal sword and shield, found it hard to stain my hands with the blood of God's children...
And so, my hope was well lived.
Humanity did not commit an unforgivable sin, giving God no reason to exterminate them.
But..
[ Civilization A1-2, codename Genesis, ended 5,000 years after its creation. ]
[ Cause of Destruction — Famine. ]
....they destroyed themselves and the world they resided in. It was a war on a global scale, one that could no longer be stopped. Humanity pushed itself to extinction due to endless conflicts, until eventually, the planet died before they did. Completely stripped of its resources, Earth was unable to sustain itself any longer. Plants no longer grew, minerals could no longer be found, and all the beasts in the wild died due to human machinations.
Eventually, humanity ran out of sources of food and all died due to starvation.
And thousands of years after humanity's downfall, God brought them back again. I did not ask him why. I did not even wonder. At that point, I no longer cared about humanity. I no longer cared if they lived and died. Their existence was absurd. They were incomprehensible, illogical, and ultimately, useless.
So I did not care for them.
I did not watch them. I did not even fly above the cities they had made, or made any contact with them whatsoever. There was no point, for the same thing was bound to happen again...

For millions of years, numerous civilizations rose and fell, over and over again, and every time it did, my disappointment for humanity continued to rise, while any sort of empathy I had for them fell drastically. I had thought the cycle of death, destruction, and rebirth would continue for all eternity, I had thought that I would be maintaining my role as an eternal witness, but then, something happened, an event that no one saw coming, an event that no one thought was possible…
God…
"...is no longer with us."
