Max discovered that the darkness the book was referring to was actually Lucifer, the demon king. And Ryan happened to be his third son, who was a merciless assassin, or still is. Max's heart began to pound when he realized that he had given freedom to a psychopathic demon who feeds on human souls for power.
Max also read that if the bounties don't feed, they start losing their physical touch on the world. That explains why Ryan wasn't able to touch anything else. But now he's free and gone, so Max just has to prepare for the worst.
Just when he decided to read further, Caleb rushed into the library soaked in his own blood.
Immediately, Max saw Caleb, he rushed to him and tried to ask about what happened, but Caleb collapsed and passed out. Right in that instant, Caleb's suit started glowing black. Just then, a notification popped up.

Max immediately carried Caleb in his arms and rushed him outside the library. But he didn't know where the school clinic was located because during the tour, Sergeant Creed didn't take his group there.
But fortunately for Max and unconscious Caleb, Bella Logan was just heading towards the library when she saw them outside.
"Oh my God! What happened to him?" Bella questioned.
"I don't know." Max replied. "Do you know where the school clinic is? He needs to be attended to immediately!"
Bella Logan happened to be in Sergeant Beckett's group during the tour, and they had visited the school clinic. "This way!" She shouted and led the way.
They arrived at the school clinic swiftly. It was just an open hall with several hospital beds, most of which were filled up with students from Sergeant Cressida and General Skylar Vox's groups after the tour. What surprised Max even more was the fact that there were no techs or gadgets in the clinic, of all places. He had expected heavy medical equipments to be attending to one student, but that wasn't the case.
"Over here!" Bella pointed to the nearest empty bed, and Max laid Caleb on it. While Max was waiting for a doctor to attend to Caleb, he noticed that all the students who were glowing orange were now automatically glowing green. It was as if they had all been magically healed.
Soon, a young lady approached them and asked what happened. Max gave her the same reply he gave Bella. The 'I don't know' reply.
"Miss Lyris, is he going to be okay?" Max asked after reading the name tag on the lady's lab coat.
"Relax, boy. He's going to be fine as long as he's still alive," Lyris replied with a smile. She pushed her hair to the side of her face, revealing her charming piercing green eyes to the world.
She's a black lady in her early twenties, probably the youngest doctor in the hall. With her healing ability, Lyris doesn't need master's degrees or PhDs to become a doctor. And over the last few years she has worked in the military school, she has proven herself to be useful.
She placed her hand on Caleb's stomach and closed her eyes. Seconds later, her hand began to emit light, and as the light kept glowing, Caleb began to groan.
"What is she doing?" Max asked Bella who was standing beside him.
"Healing him, I guess," she responded. During the tour, Sergeant Beckett had mentioned that the doctors in the school clinic had healing abilities which they use for treatments.
After the glowing light stopped, Caleb stopped bleeding. "He's out of danger and he will be waking up any time soon," Lyris informed Max and Caleb.
Soon, Max discovered that all the deep injuries he had seen on Caleb while bringing him into the clinic were gone. They all vanished like he was never injured, although his suit stripes were still black. But that's because he's still unconscious.
"What the fuck...!" Max muttered. "You have healing abilities? Now that explains why there are no techs here," he marveled.
Immediately, as Max thought about Lyris' powers, his inspection ability began inspecting her.

Even though Caleb had been healed completely, there were few examinations and records that needed to be taken.
"His injuries were caused by sharp pointy objects like spears or knives. I believe we guys can get all the details from him when he wakes up," Lyris said and walked towards another student.
Max wondered who could've done this to Caleb. Even though he wanted to take action against that person, he knew that his first ability from his system book wasn't a combat ability.
Max's gaze fell on Caleb's wristwatch, and he discovered that it was displaying zero Game Points.
"I think someone attacked him and transferred his game points from him. Look, there's nothing there," Max said to Bella.
"Maybe he just got into a fight with higher-ranked students. And about the points, I think maybe he already spent all of them. Everyone did spend theirs last night and this morning before the tour."
"I definitely saw his points this morning, and there's no way he spent them during the tour. I think someone did this because of points," Max stated firmly.
Bella sighed before responding. "You might be right though. But anyways, ask him when he wakes up."
"Thanks for help. I guess I'll see you around," Max said as Bella walked out from the clinic hall.
Max was really tempted to inspect Bella, but he feared that his Experience Points might run out. He already used up almost all of them inspecting books at the library, and when he inspected Miss Lyris early, he received another message that he ignored at the moment. Just thinking about the ignored message made it pop up on his face.

Max waited for two hours before Caleb regained consciousness. They were roommates, so he couldn't leave him behind. At this point, it was already dark, and according to the school rules, every student should be in their rooms before 10 pm.
Caleb opened his eyes and saw Max staring at him. He wasn't surprised that Max was standing next to him because before he passed out in the library, he saw Max rushing to him.
"Hey buddy! You're awake," Max said.
And as usual, Caleb wouldn't say anything. Miss Lyris approached Caleb and asked him few questions about what happened to him. Before Caleb could reply, Max responded on his behalf.
"I'm afraid he doesn't speak."
"Says who," Caleb voiced out, raising an eyebrow at Max.
"Did you just speak? Oh my God, that's amazing!" Max exclaimed.
Just as Max thought, Caleb was attacked because of his game points. But what Max didn't see coming was when Caleb described his attackers.
"They were three of them, and their suits had different colors from ours," Caleb explained.
Max wondered who these three guys might be. Only students could've attacked someone for points, but then again, all the students wear the same black suit, so who could've attacked Caleb? Max asked himself.
Lyris immediately asked Caleb the color of the suit, as if she had suspects in mind.
"They were wearing navy blue suits," Caleb revealed.
"Damn it! Those bastards started again," Lyris muttered.
"You know them? Who are they" Caleb asked.
Lyris stayed quiet for a few seconds before telling Max and Caleb who attacked him. "They're the second-year students from the next school building."
