Chapter 38 - Seek

Azrael, always curious and insightful, questioned Uriel further. "Uriel, you still haven't told us how you ended up in Gabriel's place."

Uriel, surprised by Azrael's astuteness, paused for a moment before responding, "Oh, right. I almost forgot to mention that part. Well, you see, when I sensed unusual energy in this vicinity and summoned some elemental beings to investigate, they reported the presence of a Sacrificial Soul."

Mirai, her interest piqued, asked, "A Sacrificial Soul? What does that entail?"

Uriel explained, "In the celestial realms, a Sacrificial Soul refers to a rare occurrence where a human willingly sacrifices their life for a higher purpose, often in exchange for a specific wish or divine cause. It's a profoundly selfless act, showcasing immense devotion."

Azrael nodded, his analytical mind processing the information. "So, a human willingly gave up their life for something greater. That's indeed remarkable."

Uriel continued, "Yes, and the energy released during such a sacrifice is exceptionally potent. It was the unusual surge in energy that initially caught my attention and led me to this location. I believe that this Sacrificial Soul might hold significance in the grand scheme of things."

Gabriel, who had been silently absorbing the conversation, added his perspective, "It's quite possible that this Sacrificial Soul is part of God's divine plan, just like the voice that guided me during our battle against Asmodeus."

Mirai couldn't help but marvel at the unfolding mysteries. "The pieces of this puzzle are coming together, and it seems our journey is becoming even more intricate. We should remain vigilant and prepared for whatever lies ahead."

As the revelation of the Sacrificial Soul deepened their understanding, the Fallen Archangels knew that their path was entwined with both human and celestial destinies, a journey that held many secrets yet to be uncovered.

Uriel, eager to shed light on the situation, began recounting another key moment. "It all started that night, Gabriel. While you were peacefully asleep in your house, I suddenly sensed an ominous presence, and then, Asmodeus appeared out of nowhere."

Gabriel's curiosity piqued, and he leaned in to listen intently. "What happened then?"

Uriel continued, "I confronted Asmodeus, hoping he might have some knowledge about the Sacrificial soul. I asked him directly if he knew anything about it. However, his response was rather cryptic and unsettling. He laughed, a chilling sound, and then said, 'Oh, you're looking for that, are you? Well, little Angel, I'm not here for the Sacrificial soul. I'm here for revenge, to avenge the death of my beloved Incubus toy.'"

Azrael, equally intrigued, inquired further, "Did he provide any clues or hints regarding the Sacrificial soul?"

Uriel shook her head, her frustration evident. "No, he didn't. It was as if he found my inquiry amusing, a mere afterthought in his grand scheme. He was enigmatic and offered no direct answers."

Gabriel contemplated the enigmatic nature of Asmodeus's response. "It seems that Asmodeus is playing a much deeper game, and the Sacrificial soul is just a part of it. We need to tread carefully and decipher his true intentions."

Mirai hesitated for a moment before confessing, "There's something I need to admit. The Incubus I killed... it was a young boy who had been ensnared by Asmodeus's corruption. He was wreaking havoc in the town, indulging in his newfound lust. I had no choice but to stop him."

Uriel and Gabriel exchanged surprised glances, taken aback by Mirai's revelation. "You did?" Gabriel inquired.

Mirai nodded solemnly. "Yes, he was just a child, manipulated and twisted by Asmodeus's dark powers. I couldn't let him continue on that path."

Uriel offered her understanding. "You did what you believed was right, Mirai. We all have our burdens to bear."

Azrael, who had been listening quietly, chimed in, "Our past actions have consequences that we can't always predict. We must face them head-on, as we have with Asmodeus."

As Uriel also explained the significance of the Sacrificial soul. Understanding the gravity of the situation, he turned to his fellow Fallen Angels with a sense of urgency in his eyes.

"It is crucial that we find this soul before any Demon does," Azrael declared. "The consequences of it falling into the wrong hands could be catastrophic."

Uriel, Gabriel, and Mirai nodded in agreement, their resolve strengthening with each passing moment. They had faced formidable challenges together, and now, they were united by a common purpose.

Azrael continued, "I propose that we work together to locate the Sacrificial soul. With our combined strengths and abilities, we have a better chance of success."

Uriel smiled at the suggestion. "Azrael, we would be honored to assist you in this quest. We have come this far as a team, and we shall face this challenge together."

Uriel also added "Even if the handler of the Sacrificial soul is good or bad, we need to find it first. The only way to prevent the demons from getting it is that we need to extract the soul when we found it." Uriel said while looking at them with a serious face.

The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on their shoulders as Uriel's words hung in the air. Extracting a human soul was no small matter, and the consequences were dire. Azrael understood the magnitude of the decision they faced.

"Removing a human soul is a grave act. It means ending their life, and we must be absolutely certain that it's the only option." Azrael speaks doubting the process on extracting the soul.

Uriel responded with no other choice solution, "I know, Azrael. But if we don't act swiftly, the consequences of the Sacrificial soul falling into the wrong hands could be far worse."

Gabriel and Mirai exchanged concerned glances, realizing the difficult choices they would have to make in the pursuit of this mission.

"Very well, then. We will find this soul, but we will exhaust all other options before resorting to such a drastic measure. Our duty is to protect the balance and prevent the demons from obtaining it."

With a collective nod, the group acknowledged the weight of their mission and the sacrifices it might demand. The quest to locate the Sacrificial soul had just become even more challenging and morally complex.

Azrael couldn't help but be captivated by the serene beauty of the night sky. The moon hung gracefully, casting its gentle glow on a canvas of stars that sparkled like diamonds. It was a celestial spectacle that filled him with a sense of wonder.

Yet, amid this celestial display, his attention was abruptly drawn to an unexpected vision. A fleeting image of a girl, ethereal and mysterious, briefly manifested in the heavens. Her presence, though ephemeral, struck a chord within Azrael, awakening a sense of recognition deep within him.

As quickly as she had appeared, the girl vanished into the vast expanse of the night sky, leaving Azrael pondering her identity and the significance of her sudden appearance. It was a puzzle, a fragment of memory that eluded him, but one that held the promise of unlocking a part of his enigmatic past. Azrael couldn't help but wonder if this girl held the key to the mysteries he sought to unravel.
