The sun was shining down on earth, yet the warmth was naught but ignoring its urge to be comforted. It was a cold morning, one that would keep people inside, refusing to lift even a finger outside of their cozy bed. It was the last day of December, the last day of the year that changed drastically. After midnight, they would enter a new era, one that would be worse, one that would never let people smile again.
As the 'Superior being' looked at the gray clouds, his mind wandering in a place only Gods know of, someone walked in his direction, from his back. Though he sensed their presence, he ignored it.
"Sup' Jimen. What' ya doin here, looking at the sky so melancholic?"
The 'Superior being', or 'Jimen', didn't answer quite yet. After a few seconds, he looked at the person at his side.
"Hamza."
"Yeah?"
His dark brown eyes, the same smile and gaze, they reminded him of a certain someone, someone out of reach now. Someone he once cherished with his whole soul. Someone he yearned for.
"What did you come for? Where are the others?" Jimen continued. "How are the preparations going? Are you ready for tonight?"
Hamza swiftly brushed his curly hair with his hand, obvious awkwardness throning his face. His eyes looked the other way, as if he wasn't concerned. He slightly smirked.
"Oh, about that… We all worked really hard yesterday, so Luka told 'em they could take a small nap… I just woke up and they should be too soon!"
Like this was going to satisfy him. Why were those pricks sleeping? There was an important matter to take care of, every minute was precious. Jimen did not have the patience nor the will to deal with those reckless children, yet he also did not want to get mad. He was past this useless emotion, nothing good would come out of it. With a sigh, he asked;
"What about Lili?...Surely she isn't as careless as the rest of you."
"Oh yeah, of course she stayed awake. She's been working with the Brillantes. The new ones have been trained, all we have to do now is wait for them to get there."
"Good." Jimen looked up, then down at Hamza again. "Hamza. I won't go tonight. You can also stay. I'll ask Luka and Lee Hayoung to go together. Lili has to stay too."
Though Hamza was usually the unserious prick he was, his look suddenly changed. He didn't need to ask why, or how or anything. Hamza knew.
"And also, don't harm Edmund."
"...Okay."
Tonight was the night.

"Yuri? Are you alright?"
Sasha's anxious voice reached my ears, it felt as if hands were pushing me from a dark dream.
"Oh. Oh yeah what?"
With a sigh, she grabbed my shoulder, I couldn't know where to look. She had obviously noticed I wasn't better after all.
As she was about to say something, I softly brushed her hand off of me. Put it together, 'me'.
"I'm okay, just a bit tired. It'll pass once we finish it." I noticed the others glaring at me. "I swear…"
Jay sighed, walked past me and quickly brushed my hair with his hand, his eyes fixated on the house. With a quiet yet ferm voice, he said;
"Just know we'll be there anyways."
Something in my heart just didn't feel right. Like a pinching, yet I didn't hate it. I was grateful for my friends. Maybe, maybe one day I could open up..?
