Late night.
Arianna lay on her bunk. It was a simple mat laid on the floor. And only a thin blanket for coverage. It couldn't really keep out the cold and was just merely an accessory. That was why the only three soldiers in the room always slept with their uniform on. It was thick and was easily the only clothes they had.
Just today, over a hundred new people had come. They had been given the night to rest as their training was to start tomorrow.
Arianna thought within herself that they were just walking into their deaths. She didn't bother speaking to anyone. What she didn't want to attract, in any way at all, was attention and unnecessary punishment.
She and the two other soldiers were the only ones with mats. All the other 100 or so people slept on the bare floor.
She hugged her bag to herself. The bag had inside it, the book she so much cherished. The day before, she had read the book. It was beyond what one could imagine. Her thoughts drifted.
After Zord had nearly killed her with extra training, she retired to the dormitory tuckered out. She slouched on the mat like a bag of sand already in a groggy tired state. Her body was tired, but her mind sure wasn't.
Curiosity took the better part of her and she took out the book to read. The room was dark and she lighted a candle she had stolen. It was better to read at this time, as everyone was already asleep and no-one would know of the book's existence.
As her fingers touched the book, the vein-like lines on it glowed and the book shook slightly. Her eyes sparkled with interest.
When she flipped open the book, she realized that she didn't need the candle as the book was self luminous. What surprised her even more was that there were no words on the pages. They were just blank luminous thick pages.
She was at first confused, then she remembered that the book had spoken to her the day she took it. She thought of the possibility of conversing with that voice. As the idea greased her mind, she felt her head start to hurt, like as if her brain was expanding.
She nearly screamed but bit down on her tongue to suppress it. Soon, she blacked out and when she opened her eyes again, she found herself in an odd world.
It was a place beyond her imagination. It was extremely beautiful but she couldn't describe it. She took two slow footsteps forward and stopped.
She looked down at her hands and realized she had no hands, neither did she have legs. She touched her face and she had no eyes, no nose, no mouth. She didn't have a body so how could she walk and see? It was something her tiny brain couldn't understand.
The world was so bizarre. There was no sky, no air, no ground. There was just a physical entity, a physical existence that compassed everything about.
The world was too indescribable. Her human brain would never be able to explain what this world was made of.
"Amazing right?" A voice came in her ears. It was not near neither was it far away. When she listened it felt like it came from all directions. It was as if a million people had spoken to her, but she didn't hear the sound of a million because there was so much unison in the voices they all came out at once, in one perfect phrase. Noone's voice came even an infinitesimal fraction of a second later.
"Arianna speak!" the voice was so commanding and yet pampering at the same time. She may have been paying attention to the world for too long.
"Who are you? Where am I? How do you know my name?" Arianna asked.
"Human are you stupid? I am in your mind, I can tap into every information in it. As for who I am, do you not see? I'm an omniscient being. I know everything. I know everyone. I know how every speck of sand was formed. I know who you are and who you are destined to be." he spoke in an ethereal voice.
"Hmm, that sounds convincing. Yet I wonder why you beckon to me. I am just a mere human. "
"Not of importance to you, Human." the voice replied.
"It is. I must say." Arianna argued.
"I am unwilling to disclose that information."
Arianna sighed and frowned.
"You have no form, why is that?" She asked.
"I do not need a form to exist."
"Hmm, your world is very abstract."
"This is not my world Arianna, it is your mind. My world is more beautiful than here. This Arianna, is the capability of your mind." The voice said and paused. "Limitless." The voice quoted.
"What about your own world, is it limitless?"
"Limitless is an understatement for how vast my world is. Your human brain cannot comprehend its size."
"You are quite narcissistic."
"I am very much." The voice replied plainly.
"And sarcastic." She added.
"Appearances. I just tell you the truth about my world."
"Hmm, you must be the owner of that book right?"
"Yes I wrote that book and as limitless as my world is, so is that book."
"Indeed." Arianna replied as she remembered flipping through the pages and being unable to get to the end.
"The book, how am I supposed to learn from it, if there are no words?"
"It's simple. Ask and it shall be given unto you."
"Hmm." Arianna nodded in understanding.
"Let's talk about the blood flowing through your veins. Isn't that your biggest question? How you acquired healing capabilities?" The voice said.
"Yes, it is. What of it?" Arianna asked.
"It is contaminated." The voice replied.
"Contaminated?" Arianna asked incredulously.
"Yes."
"Tell me more." Arianna said with interest.
"That is as much as you should know. You are special, Arianna." The voice said.
"Very well then. What should I call you?" She asked.
"Call me Teacher, for that is what I am from here on after."
"Understood... Teacher." She replied.
Instantaneously, her mind began to shrink. She shrieked in pain and within seconds, she had come back to the real world.
She gasped desperately. She stashed the book away and slept of.
