"Oh, they are really good at showcasing their strength to the weak and fearing the strong, huh? Okay, I will deal with them later. But right now, let's go and see how your mother's condition is. I'll see if there's anything I can do to save her," said Ronin, looking at the little girl.
"But wait, I'll carry you. Just show me the way to your home," said Ronin.
"Hmm," the little girl didn't even wait for Ronin to carry her and hurriedly ran behind him, hopping on his back.
"Let's go," she said, raising her hand into the air.
"Hey... Hey, little girl, do you think I'm your ride?" Ronin murmured inwardly and asked, "What's your name?"
"My name is Mei Ling," said the little demon girl with a cute giggle on her face.
"You have a cute name there," said Ronin and moved away from there at full speed, but at a pace slow enough for Mei Ling to see the surroundings. She led the way, and while they were on the move, Ronin stopped near the medical shop, following Mei Ling's instructions. She bought the herbs with the ten copper coins she had, and then they continued moving towards Mei Ling's home. After a few minutes, Ronin arrived at Mei Ling's home.
Mei Ling hopped down and hurriedly ran into her dilapidated house, followed by Ronin. He couldn't help but feel pity for the little girl living in such a place. "Mother, I'm back," said Mei Ling with a bright smile on her face.
"Mei Ling, where were you until now? Do you know how worried I became when I woke up and didn't find you in the house?" said Mei Ling's mother, embracing her daughter.
"Mother, look, I'm okay. Here, take the medicine," said Mei Ling, placing the herbs she bought from the medical shop in her mother's hands.
"Mei Ling, where did you get the money to buy these herbs?" asked Mei Ling's mother, her brows furrowed.
"Mom..." Before Mei Ling could finish her sentence, Ronin entered and interrupted their conversation. "I gave her the money. I found her outside crying, and when I asked her why she was crying, she said you were ill. So, I gave her the money needed to buy those herbs."
"Sir, who are..." Before she could finish her question, the remaining words got stuck in her throat, and she widened her eyes in shock. Ronin removed the cloth covering his face and gestured for her to stay silent, not letting Mei Ling know about his identity.
Mei Ling's mother regained her composure and nodded, expressing gratitude. She smiled and said, "Thank you for helping us."
Seeing her mother's smile and no objections to Ronin's words, Mei Ling didn't dispute what he had said.
Mei Ling's mother quickly tidied up the bed and said, "Sir, please don't stand there. Come here and have a seat."
However, Ronin didn't go to sit on the bed. Instead, he looked at Mei Ling's mother and asked, "Can I check your health condition?"
"Sure," said Mei Ling's mother, hurrying over to Ronin and standing before him.
"Turn around," calmly instructed Ronin.
She turned her back, facing Ronin. He placed his hand on her back, his brows furrowing as he thought with an angry look on his face, "These despicable humans, how can they poison innocent demon citizens who have never been involved in any battles and have never hurt anyone?" He released his tyrannical demon energy into her body. Although it was tyrannical, it was just a normal energy infusion for someone with demon blood in their veins.
However, as soon as the tyrannical demon energy entered her body, she began sweating profusely due to the pressure exerted by the unrestful poison within her. "You think you can hide from me?" Ronin murmured inwardly. His energy transformed into a claw, clutching the poison. The intense pressure from the demon energy destroyed the poison.
Cough, cough...
Mei Ling's mother coughed up a few mouthfuls of black blood onto the floor.
"Mother!" Mei Ling hurriedly ran towards her with a worried expression on her face.
"I'm okay, Mei," said Mei Ling's mother, wiping away the black blood from her lips as color returned to her pale face.
"Hmm," Mei Ling nodded, snuggling into her mother's warm and comforting embrace, a happy smile gracing her face.
Ronin continued to observe the peaceful interaction between the mother and daughter. After a few minutes of watching, he called out to Mei Ling while looking at her. "Mei Ling, come here."
Mei Ling let go of her mother's embrace and ran towards Ronin, bowing to him as she said, "Thank you."
Ronin nodded and then gestured for Mei Ling to turn around. As she complied, he reached out his hand to place it on her back.
"These bastards even poisoned children. It seems like every demon on the human continent is affected by the poison," Ronin thought, removing the poison from her body.
Mei Ling also coughed up a few mouthfuls of black blood, and color gradually returned to her pale face.
"She also has the same illness?" Mei Ling's mother asked, her face filled with worry.
"It's not an illness, but rather both of you were poisoned," explained Ronin, his gaze fixed on Mei Ling's mother.
"Poisoned?" Mei Ling's mother stared back at Ronin, fear evident in her eyes.
"Don't worry, I've removed every trace of the poison from both of your bodies," reassured Ronin, a nonchalant expression on his face.
"My name is Ronin. And what is yours?" Ronin inquired, looking at Mei Ling's mother.
"The Demon Lord just revealed his name to me? No one knows his real name, but he willingly shared it with me?" Mei Ling's mother pondered silently, her body trembling slightly due to the unexpected special treatment from the Demon Lord.
Before she could respond to the Demon Lord's question, a cute voice chimed in, "My mother's name is Xin Ling."
"Xin Ling, we need to talk," stated Ronin.
"Hmm," Xin Ling nodded and turned to her daughter, saying, "Mei Ling, go play outside. We have important matters to discuss. I will call you once we've finished."
