John didn't see Mechna again after the meeting. He waited a bit for her. But Greg told him to leave because she could take quite a while on calls, and she would sometimes forget what she was doing before. So staying would be redundant. So John shrugged and walked away.
So because John had nothing better to do. And because he felt like it would be weird to call Aria after already spending time with her yesterday. He decided to visit the monument for _______.
So John hailed a truck. Jumped in the back. And curled into the fetal position.
And so, as the indictment screamed, John was on his way.

......
John looked at the towering structure in front of him. It was still only in its skeletal phases, but even at this phase, John could tell it was going to be massive.
Four monolithic pillars surrounded the dragon. They towered at least forty feet into the air, and metal cables stretched out to grip the dragon. Clearly, the metal cables were placed there to allow the dragon to stand up because it would be too heavy otherwise.
A large metal frame in the shape of the dragon's body towered in the air as well. There was marble sculpted over the legs of the dragon. They were intricately sculpted into different scales, with little murals painted on them. John got closer to the monument.
The girl who had created the monument by the highway had asked John to tell her some stories about _____. And it was clear that this was where they were put to use.
On each of the scales, there was a little painting of things John did with the dragon. There were paintings of him playing in the fields and fighting with him at his side. They were like inshrined slabs of memories.
Tears appeared in John's eyes.
MONSTER!MURDERER!BETRAYER! B____ I miss you. MONSTER!MURDERER!BETRAYER!
John walked around the feet of the dragon. Tears streamed from his eyes as he looked at all the different images. All the different things he had done with _______ were enshrined here. It was like a monument to their brief history.
"Do you like it?"
John turned to the voice.
Standing a few feet away from him was a woman. She had brown hair that went down to her shoulders, there was a dimple on her cheek, and she was wearing a full suit.
John nodded.
The concrete block was firmly fastened in his throat at that moment. But he still spoke.
"It..... Good." John said
A small smile appeared on her face as she raised her brow.
"It...…. Good?"
John nodded.
Both John and the girl shared a happy chuckle.
That moment was like a flicker of light for John.
"It's going good. You should keep at it. I'm excited to see how it will look when you finish it." John said
The girl smiled.
"Thank you. I will."
John waved. And with that, he turned around and walked away.
He would need to get home.
MONSTER!MURDERER! Wait. Home's gone…. MONSTERMURDERER!
He would need to find a new place to live. And there was Barry.
MONSTER!MURDERER! Does he have any family I could contact? That's what I'll do. I'll see if he has any extended family. MONSTER!MURDERER!
John hailed a truck. And curled back up. And let the indictment chant. And then he was off.

......
From right to left. Fire, brimstone, death.
Trolls towered. Dragons devoured. Humans ran like cowards. And John sat in the back witnessing it all.
Shootting through John's mind and his chant was a single biting word.
Shit.
John rolled out of his truck.
RAAAAAAAAA!
It was time to do damage control.
A few hundred feet away from John, there was a Dragon the size of three city blocks. It towered over the city, and when it shot its poison gas, multiple city blocks suffocated. This dragon had earth-green scales and no wings. It looked strong and dense, and it had a mace at the end of its tail.
John tensed his legs. And then he leaped.
The wind sailed by John's face as he flew towards the dragon. It was funny to think that John could barely jump just a few months ago. Now, he could jump so well that he could practically fly.
Luckily, the dragon was a landbound lizard. So, it would have trouble avoiding John's attack.
John clenched his fists and prepared to strike the dragon. It looked up at John and fired a blast of poison gas.
John flew through it. And straight into its ball-like tale.
FUCK!
John slammed through the glass of a skyscraper. He tumbled through the rows of cubicles and just barely managed to slow himself down. John's whole body throbbed from the blow.
I NEED TO GET BACK OUT THERE!
John pulled himself to his feet. And then he fell.
He was too heavy. The thin floor couldn't support him.
BANG!
John looked up. The skyscraper above John was collapsing with him.
There's no way I can survive the weight of a whole skyscraper falling on top of me. John said to himself.
John grits his teeth. He repeatedly slammed his feet into the floors below him. But he was too heavy. He would just break through.
Is this how I die? I got crushed by a building because I'm too fat. John scoffed at himself
This is fucking profane.
"YAP!"
The next thing John knew, he is diving through the skyscraper floors. He was tumbling through the sky instead.
Flying above John was a large-scale creature. John knew exactly who it was. It was Naos.
John smiled.
"Thank you."
THUMP!
John slammed into the pavement.
His body broke through the pavement. John lay atop a pile of damp dirt.
I must have crushed through a sewer.
John looked up at the sky. His dragons were there fighting, too. They would be at risk. They could die. John couldn't let that happen. He just couldn't.
Not again. Never again.
Even though his body throbbed, John pulled himself to his feet.
I'm going to tear this battlefield apart.
