Chapter 90 - Vol 2 Chapter Twelve: Change

John looked at the words on the medicine bottles.

It said Joe's pharmacy. John then looked the pharmacy up on his phone. There was only one. So it was easy to find. And so John got up and started walking.

His stolen credit card wasn't functioning as of right now. So John couldn't drive to his chosen location. Instead, he had to walk like a common plebeian.

It took John about an hour of walking to get to the pharmacy. And just as he had expected, it was decidedly broken into.

The outside of the pharmacy had its windows broken, and there was broken glass strewn through both the inside and the outside of the building. The shelves that held the medicine were knocked over, and pills were strewn on the ground.

John calmly walked atop the broken glass. His feet were bare. He had lost his shoes in a fight a while back and decided not to buy a new pair. Because his tougness was high enough the shoes didn't really protect his feet anyways.

Cowering behind the counter of the pharmacy was a woman with blue-dyed hair and a nose ring. Her face was pale as she watched John walk into the pharmacy.

"Ummmmmm. Hi." John waved awkwardly.

He raised his pill bottle up.

"I'm just returning these." John said

He hesitantly put the pill bottles on the counter of the pharmacy. The girl just continued to look at John.

He struck quite a terrifying figure. He was a big man standing at seven foot two and behind him were two large dragons. Their mouths throthed with frost and fire.

Anyone would be terrified of me. John thought

Especially because he was a Murderer.

John turned around. He slowly started to walk away from the pharmacy.

I should shave my beard

John wasn't a thief he wouldn't steal. But borrowing was fine. John bent over and picked up a razor that had fallen onto the floor. He brought the razor up and flipped up the little thing at the back. After a few minutes of shaving his beard was gone and John was clean shaven again.

The woman just watched as John did this.

John put the razor back on the ground where he left it. And then he walked away.

John spent the next few hours walking through the streets. There was a serene smile on his newly clean-shaven face. Every now and then, John would pause. His dragons would freeze up, and their tales would stick into the air, and a shadow would be cast over John's face.

But those pauses only lasted for moments. Then John would continue to walk with a serene smile on his face.

The air was cold and biting against John's skin today. And the sky was a deep blue. The sun almost seemed white in this sky. To John, it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. The taste of the pills was still in his mouth. And in the darkest pit of his mind, the chant still persisted.

MURDERER! MURDERER! MURDERER!

It continuously struck at John. It stabbed into his brain. Yet right now he was still seeing the most beautiful thing of his whole life.

How long has it been since the world went mad? Four months? Three?

After the moment that the bomb had dropped. That was the moment that everything started to change. That was the moment that madness started to infect things.

Wasn't it?

Or was it the moment that John left the cellar when he was a boy? And everything started to sound different.

Was that the moment when the world went mad?

Regardless. Of when. One thing was for certain. Madness was it's malady

"YOU!"

"HEY!"

"LISTEN!"

Finally, John's head turned in the direction of the sound. Standing behind John was a black man in a black suit who wore black sunglasses. He had a stern look on his face. And based upon the bulge in his pants pocket, he was armed.

His eye was just a red gem, and his neck was half steel. John didn't know who this man was. But he certainly knew where he came from. John had learned of them once in school. They were mysterious, and they were powerful. And they were known to have backed the war between the star-spangled land and the maple world nations. They had sold weapons to both sides.

But after John had to move away from the maple land. He had never heard of them again.

"Yes?" John asked.

"You missed your fight. So we're getting a helicopter to airlift you to the empire. Follow me to the landing point." He said

John nodded

He must have been in a different feeling for a good number of hours then.

"Okay. I have one question, though. How'd you find me?" John asked

"There was a tracker on you." The man said.

John nodded.

"Ahhh. Okay." He said

John followed after the black man in the black suit.

The man led John to a truck that was parked at the side of the road a bit away from the man.

"Sit in the bed of the truck. Your to heavy for the seats." John nodded.

"Alright."

John sat himself down in the bed of the truck. The back of the truck visibly lowered about a foot after John sat.

John had never remembered himself being heavy enough to depress a truck down that much.

Status.

John willed his status screen into existence.

His weight had doubled. But John was sure he had about the same amount of fat.

Hmmmm. I must have gained some muscle. And an equal amount of fat to match that.

BRRRRRRRR

The man started the truck up. In the next few hours John would be transported to a place totally alien from his current one.

Let's hope we speak the same language.
