"Yes, that would be us." Said Cassandra with a smile on her face.
"Sweet" Joe put two thumbs up and let a deep smile grace his face.
"Come in. Now that you're here we can get down to discussing brass tax." Said, Joe
The group filtered into the room. They sat down with the other Warriors in a circle.
Joe looked at the group with a smile on his face.
"Okay, does everyone know why we're here?" Asked Joe
Cassandra raised her hand. The rest of the group followed after her.
"Okay. Then I'll explain. So, with satellite imaging, we've found a group of about thirty thousand Trolls organized into camps. They show signs of being an organized military force. So it's our job to get in there. Take notes on how they are organized and what tools they use in case they re-organize like this. And after finishing that, we'll need to kill all the trolls." Said, Joe
The group nodded.
"But why do we have to do the killing? Can't we send the Trumpet Bearer to do such a difficult task?" Asked a short and chubby warrior.
"He's been gone since the apocolysis started. No one knows where he is." Said, Joe
"Oh." Said the chubby warrior.
He looked to the ground.
"No wonder the worlds gone to shit."
"Okay. With that out of the way. Let's discuss roles." Joe gestured to a group of tall and skinny warriors to his left.
"You'll be our strike team. Your job is to get in fast and cause as much chaos as possible."
Next, he pointed to all the short and skinny warriors.
"You'll be surveillance. Your Job is to infaltrate into the Camps during the strike teams assault and wait until we send you a message on this phone."
Joe handed each of the short and skinny warriors a cell phone.
"You get to keep them, by the way. Consider it a perk of the job." Said Joe with a wink.
Some of the warriors looked surprised. But most of them didn't react at all to getting a free phone.
"To everyone else who doesn't have a role in the plan's first phase." Said Joe.
"My wife will be the one who will be organizing placement and other complex tactic stuff for you. Because I don't want to touch those fancy dancy concepts." Said, Joe
Samantha and the warriors filtered out of the room.
The warriors got up and began to socialize with each other. John didn't get up. He stayed firmly seated on the ground.
What are the chances of me dying in battle? What if they all have guns? Then I'll definitely die.
"Hey"
John practically jumped out of his skin at the voice.
Standing across from John was Joe. He had a wide grin on his face and a wheel of cheese in his hands.
"You wanna eat some cheese with me."
John chuckled.
He used to eat cheese with Joe in college. It was a running gag among the fight club. They would get together every Saturday and eat a few wheels of cheese.
John smiled at Joe's request.
"Sure," John said
Joe fell into a cross-legged pouster in front of John. He ripped his wheel of cheese in half. He handed the larger half to John. John smiled as he took the wheel in his hands.
"Thank." Said John
Joe cocked an eyebrow.
"You mean thank you. Don't you?"
John grinned.
"I say thank now. I'm trying to start a trend." John said
"Well, okay then."
"So you went to college for accounting, right? How did that go for you?" Asked Joe
"It went fine. I make a living wage. Enough to pay for my size and buy food." John said
"Ahh. Well, that nice."
"But you're a hunter now," Joe said
John nodded
"Yeah, looks like it. Honestly, I would prefer to go back to a desk Job. All this moving around and doing stuff is super tiring." Said John
"But if you did, you'd be tried for your crime," Joe said
A sad smile graced John's face.
"I would."
It was honestly supremely annoying to John. Walking was something that he never wanted to do again in his life.
But the Sunshine Republic was not kind to murderers, especially when it's a military official.
"You were stronger than me back in the fight club. You'll do well as a Warrior." Said, Joe
John looked down at his lap. He had already finished his half of the cheese wheel.
"Do you bring cheese wheels around everywhere? Why do you have this?" John asked
Joe simply smiled.
"When we hired your team, they advertised that they were composed of the nation's top four most promising warriors. And you broke the world record for the fastest completion of the final trial. So I thought it was a no-brainer that they would include you in that group. So I made sure to bring a wheel of cheese with me." Joe said.
John nodded.
"Okay."
"Quick question."
"Ask away."
"How much money do you make?" John asked
"Well. Other than the trumpet——"
A deep face, carved scowl appeared on John's face.
"SHIT! I mean that man. Other than that, man I'm the top Warrior in the world. So I make around four million a year." Said John
John nodded
"Okay. So you're rich then."
"Yep. My marketing degree paid off. I'm one of the most marketable men alive!" Yelled Joe
John rolled his eyes at him.
"Sure buddy," John said
"It's true!" Joe exclaimed
"Hey!" John's head swung in the direction of the voice.
Standing to John's right was Cassandra.
"We need to discuss our tactics," Cassandra said
John scowled.
"Later?" He asked
Cassandra glared.
"Now. We are going to be attacking in like ten minutes. This is not something that can be put off." Cassandra said
"Here. You can have the rest of my cheese." Joe said
He handed John the cheese.
John smiled.
"Thank you."
Cassandra brought John over to a secluded corner of the hangar. The group discussed their plans for the upcoming battle.
