John walked towards the glow.
He walked around a pile of rubble, and there it was. Behind the rubble, sleeping serenely in the dark, was the dragon. It had its back pressed up against a pile of debris and was curled up into a ball.
There were only piles of rubble on the right side of the dragon. The left side was completely clear. John assumed that it was like that in order to create room for the dragon to take off.
Luckily, there was a twisted car near the dragon.
~Okay. Let's see if it's asleep.~
John bent down and picked up a small stone from the ground.
*PING!*
He threw it at the car right next to the dragon.
The dragon's head shot up. John shuffled back so he was right behind the rubble.
Hopefully, it wouldn't see him.
*SEEEEEEET SEEEEEEET*
The dragon was breathing in deeply. John couldn't help but clench his fists.
~Why didn't I think about that? It might have a really good sense of smell.~
John heard the dragon's deceptively quiet footsteps approaching him.
*Thud, thud….. THUD!*
With one echoing slam of its paw, it brought its body around the rubble.
It turned its head and glared in John's direction with its reptilian eyes.
"CHUK"

Travel log: Day three
It was. It was! IT WAS!
I thought it wasn't. From the bottom of my soul, I hoped it wasn't. But it was.
I couldn't control it. I couldn't prevent it. Because despite all of my fear and yearning for a different scenario.
It was.
It watched me when I slept. It threw rocks at me when I was weak. It was a being that wished harm upon me. It was a being that possessed terrible intentions for me.
It was.
But I would make sure it was not.
It will never have been.
It will be like ash…..
End of log
John smiled at the Dragon.
"Hello. I was just passing through. If you don't mind me, I'll be on my——"
Fire. It was a terrifying beast. One that humanity tamed.
It seared our skin. It cooked our food. It Burned our bodies. It made our tools, and it gave us light.
Fire has such prevalence in humanity that there were dedicated warriors made simply to do battle with the fire. To bring it to heel when it got too disobedient.
But despite this, there was one creature that had a greater master over fire than humans ever had.
A creature that had obtained such mastery of fire that their union had gone beyond just the conceptual and practical. But instead had ascended to the biological level.
I'm sure you can fill in the blanks from here... But for those who can't.
That creature was a dragon.
A torrent of fire slithered towards John. It moved with such a breakneck pace that, in mere moments, it had burned him.
John had no time to scream as the fire covered his body. His flesh bubbled.
It was only luck that John wasn't breathing in as the fire burned him if he had not done so, the super heated air would have cooked him from the inside out.
Just as quickly as it had begun, the flames ended
John stood there. His skin was deep red, and some patches were flaking off. Other patches skipped the flaking process entirely and just chose to be exposed flesh.
John's jaw dropped. He tensed stock still and fell backwards.
*THUD! THUD! THUD!*
The dragon walked towards John.
Soon, it stood right above him. It opened its jaws and looked at John with its hateful eyes. Its jaw was unhinged, and its tongue lolled out of its mouth.
As John looked up at this, his mind began to dance
The envelope began to unfold. The trumpets began to play. A net of whispers weaved its way into the song, too.
Searing like the fire that had covered John's body were memories.
John looked up at the dragon. Its jaws were open, and its fangs were gleaming.
And fool could tell that it meant death.
Born from this sight was an agile thought. It ducked and weaved its way through the the net of whispers. Cleverly dodged the thrusts of the trumpets. And reached for the envelope.
It would commit its destined task.
~Huh. This is familiar.~
The envelope opened.
.....
A flickering shadow constructed from faltering lines stood in a pure white space.
It looked through two holes in this great whiteness, which revealed a world made from more than black and white.
Through these holes, it saw the mouth of a dragon. That's what it was here for.
Upon the pure white ground was an envelope. And in the shadows hand, was a scroll.
It was a small scroll. It could only hold a few sentences within it.
These sentences held vicissitudes greater than the shadow could ever know.
"Let me read this." Said the shadow
"DEUS VULT! For this is the portent of a human's reality. Before me is a dragon. It possesses flames of insanity and a will to end my own humanity. This does not mesh with human reality. So then I must respond to this insanity. With the will of a flesh-filled human, I wish to use the human reality to strike with such insanity that it trumps the insanity that is against reality. So then upon that goal, I create a legislation of my mind's nation! This legislation will bear the size of but three words but be pressured by the weight of a mind. This legislation is as follows.
"^^^^HOLD^FERAL^HUNGER^^^^."
