For a second, Emmaline thought she lost him.
She looked around wildly before spotting the dark grey tee shirt and khaki pants.
Hurrying to catch up, she felt as though she had lead in her veins.
Every step was too slow, and at the same time, too fast.
She wasn't ready for this and yet, she couldn't let him get away.
Her mind was running a mile a minute and every scenario that it cooked up was worse than the last. It was her biggest nightmare.
Why was he here?
As if knowing that she would have followed, the man walked without pause all the way to the park opposite the hospital before stopping.
Then he turned around.
Emmaline, who had just caught up, was panting slightly but managed to adopt a cold expression.
"Hey, Emmie wemmie," He grinned.
"Don't call me that," Emmaline snapped.
"Not even a 'hi' for your dad?" Aaron Reid asked lightly.
