Chapter 106 - Chapter 103: Misaomaru Kanonji

After agreeing to help the young man, Yoruichi crouched down, looking at the little girl and asked, "Kid, what trouble have you encountered?"

The little girl, around eight years old, with a cute appearance and short hair, had a face filled with sadness.

She cried out, "My mom, my mom was taken away by a monster."

"Monster?"

Yoruichi frowned and asked, "What kind of monster?"

The little girl, sobbing, replied, "The monster was big, with wings, it could fly."

Ah, so that's it.

Yoruichi and the others exchanged glances, feeling that this could be troublesome. This kind of monster was likely a Hollow.

The young man immediately said, "At that time, she was knocked unconscious by the monster, and she didn't see where the monster went. However, we can split up to search. Since there are four of us, I'll go east, and can you all go in the other three directions?"

It turned out he called out to them for assistance in hunting(searching). Upon hearing this, Mashiro Kuna said, "Can't you count? There are four of us."

The young man looked at Yamahiko and said, "He's still a child. We can't let a child face that kind of monster."

Upon hearing this, Yoruichi smiled and asked, "So what will you do if you encounter the monster, especially considering it can fly?"

The young man scratched his head and said, "Regardless, I can't just stand by and do nothing. I plan to find them first and then decide."

He appears to be a kind-hearted person.

Yoruichi looked at the three around her and asked, "What do you think? Do you want to help?"

Lisa Yadōmaru said, "If someone is taken by a Hollow, they're likely already dead."

Mashiro Kuna agreed wholeheartedly, and Yamahiko felt the same way. Regardless of whether they could find her, even if they did, she might already be dead.

The young man immediately exclaimed, "Hey, don't say such things! As long as there's a chance, we can't give up hope."

"Then let's search," Yoruichi sighed and said, "I'll go to the east, Mashiro, you go to the west, Lisa, you go to the north, and Yamahiko, you go..."

The young man immediately patted his chest and said, "Leave this little guy to me; I'll protect him."

Yamahiko glanced at him and said softly, "I'll follow this big brother."

Yoruichi nodded with relief. With Yamahiko around, the young man wouldn't be in danger even if he encountered a Hollow.

Yoruichi said, "Then I'll take care of this little girl."

Yoruichi picked up the little girl and ran towards the east. Mashiro Kuna and Lisa went towards the west and north, respectively.

As for Yamahiko, he looked at the young man, who smiled and said, "Your name is Yamahiko, right?"

Yamahiko nodded, and the young man immediately said, "I'm called Misaomaru Kanonji, and it's my first time in Karakura Town."

'Misaomaru Kanonji? That name sounds a bit strange.' Yamahiko noted, aware of another person named Kanonji, Don Kanonji.

They probably weren't the same person, right?

Misaomaru Kanonji said, "Alright, little guy, let's head south."

Yamahiko nodded and followed Misaomaru Kanonji towards the south, asking, "So, Misaomaru, how do you plan to find the monster?"

Misaomaru Kanonji shouted, "Hey, little guy, why do you directly call me by my name? I'm older than you, at least call me brother."

Yamahiko sighed, thinking, 'Actually, I'm about ten years older than you.'

Yamahiko said reluctantly, "Brother Misaomaru, how do you plan to find the monster?"

Misaomaru proudly said, "We can ask other souls. Surely, we can find someone who saw the monster."

Misaomaru Kanonji ran to an elderly soul not far away and asked, "Grandpa, have you seen a monster?"

"A monster? No, I haven't," the elderly soul shook his head.

Misaomaru scratched his head and said, "I see."

"Let's keep moving forward."

Misaomaru called Yamahiko and continued walking. He asked several souls, but none had seen the monster. Later, Misaomaru found a middle-aged woman soul wandering by the roadside and asked, "Auntie, have you seen a monster?"

The middle-aged woman thought for a moment and said, "You're looking for a monster? Just now, I saw a monster flying in the sky, and it had a person caught in its claws."

"You saw it?" Misaomaru's eyes lit up, asking, "Which direction did it go?"

"South, it seemed to be near Green Mountain." The middle-aged woman pointed to the distance.

"Thank you, I got it."

After thanking the woman, Misaomaru excitedly said, "Found it, at Green Mountain. You're a local, you should know Green Mountain, right?"

Really in that direction?

Yamahiko nodded, pointing to a distant high mountain, saying, "Of course, I know. It's over there."

But at that moment, behind the two of them, two voices rang out, "How scary is that man, talking to the air."

"Yeah, so tall and handsome, yet talking to himself. What a weirdo."

Yamahiko turned to look, and two young ladies were standing not far away, looking at Misaomaru and mocking him.

These two were humans, unable to see Yamahiko or the souls, so they mistakenly thought Misaomaru was talking to himself.

Misaomaru Kanonji's actions may indeed seem peculiar, but he is actively trying to help others, running around for the spirits he doesn't know. However, being mocked by people for his efforts, this saddened Yamahiko, and he couldn't help but say, "How can they say such things?"

Misaomaru patted Yamahiko on the shoulder and said, "It's okay. I can see spirits, which is already considered monstrous. Besides, I've gotten used to it."

Misaomaru Kanonji scratched his head. Although he claimed to be used to it, one could sense a tinge of sadness in his expression. It's evident he has encountered such situations many times but can only endure them silently.

Yamahiko nodded and said, "Let's go."

Misaomaru's expression turned serious as he advised, "It's better for you not to go."

"Why not?" Yamahiko asked.

Misaomaru replied, "A flying monster that attacks people. Yamahiko, you're just a kid; it's better for you not to go."

Upon hearing this, Yamahiko retorted, "Aren't you scared?"

Misaomaru smiled and said, "I am scared, but even if I am scared, I must go because I am a hero."

After saying these words, Misaomaru Kannonji ran towards the direction of the Green Mountain alone, attempting to leave Yamahiko behind

Witnessing this scene, Yamahiko's gaze softened; despite being reckless, Misaomaru Kannonji was a good person.

"Haha, did you hear that? He's calling himself a hero."

"Looks like he's crazy, hahaha."

The two women continued to gossip. Yamahiko sighed and walked up to them. Suddenly, he extended one finger, and with a snap, a burst of flames ignited on his fingertip.

Ordinary human eyes couldn't see spiritual flames, but when there were a significant number of spiritual particles in the flames, they could briefly become visible, explaining the existence of many eyewitnesses to ghostly flames.

"What... what is this? Will-o'-the-wisp? It's broad daylight."

"So scary, it seems like there's something in the ghostly light, a skull!"

"A ghost!"

The two women turned around and ran away, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

Yamahiko, satisfied with their departure, clapped his hands and then looked towards the direction where Misaomaru Kanonji had disappeared, saying, "Can't let you die."

Leaving behind these words, Yamahiko took a step forward, heading towards the direction Misaomaru went.
