Chapter 48 - Staying or Going?

As the days unfolded, Eilis found herself immersed in the enigmatic rhythms of the Lycan realm. Four months passed in a tapestry woven with new experiences, shared laughter, and the quiet moments that marked the passage of time. Arian took care of all her needs and wants.

The memories of her faerie home were not forgotten, but they now mingled with the shadows of a realm that welcomed her with open arms. The luminous groves of Eudora seemed distant, a memory painted with the hues of nostalgia.

As Eilis acclimated to the nuances of Lycan culture, the pain of Caelan's absence had begun to fade long ago, she could not recall when. A year had unfolded since that fateful day, a year marked by both loss and the tentative steps toward a new beginning.

In the quiet moments, Eilis would often find solace within the celestial embrace of Duskvale. The twilight landscapes, once unfamiliar, now held a sense of familiarity—a sanctuary where her roots intertwined with the legacy of a realm that had become a second home.

It was becoming apparent to Eilis that she had no plans of returning to Eudora; she wanted to be near Arian. The time had come to give him the answer he patiently waited for. Eilis set out through the castle, her destination being the warrior training grounds. Today the warriors were competing for ranks.

Arian caught her scent in the wind and turned to see her walking toward the training grounds. He ordered all activity to cease as he did not want Eilis to be inadvertently harmed. "Hello love, is everything all right?"

"Oh, there is nothing wrong. I came to speak with you in private if you can spare a minute."

"I will never be too busy for you. Let's take a walk."

Arian led the way to the horse stables as Eilis began to speak, "Arian, I...." She did not know how to begin.

"Do not be afraid, I am listening with an open heart."

"I've been here with you for four months and you have not asked me once if I am staying or going back home. Why?"

"It is not my choice to make. You are free to decide for yourself, and I will comply with your wish even if it means you will leave me behind. I would move mountains for you no matter what."

"Why are you so patient with me? You treat me as if I were the only woman you have ever loved."

"But you are. I cherish every moment you have ever given me."

Eilis couldn't help the rush of emotions coursing through her body as she held Arian's gaze, his words spoken with certainty and truth. She couldn't hold her composure much longer and spoke, "You have a way of making my nerves unbalanced, but I like it. I came to give you my answer."
