Mum turned her attention to Rex, concern etched on her face. "You shouldn't be sitting for too long, Rexford. You know you haven't fully recovered."
"I'm fine now," Rex insisted.
"I know you are trying to be strong for Syd's sake, but we all know better," Mum replied gently. "Come on, let me help you to your room."
Rex hesitated. "Can I stay for a little while longer? My room is boring," he pleaded, looking hopeful.
Mum smiled warmly and nodded. She carefully guided Rex to a nearby cushion and assisted him in lying down comfortably. As she did so, my attention was suddenly drawn to Mr. Cowell, who discreetly pulled something out of his pocket. The subtle movement caught my eye, and I saw him holding a red velvet box. Beside me, Lily and I exchanged excited glances, suspecting what was about to happen.
