"I accept," I heard myself saying in the next splitting second.
Gasps echoed round the whole cafeteria yet again. Lily's eyes almost bulged out and Mr rude had an amused grin.
"You can't agree to this. I'm totally against it," Lily said as she pulled me to face her.
I ignored her little disagreement. Isn't it too late to go back on my words now?
Mr rude took two steps forward, standing right besides us as he said, "I have another condition."
"What?" I snapped.
"Your friend has to apologize to me," he stated pointing at Lily.
I raised my gaze to meet Lily's but she quickly said, "I won't do that."
I censoriously added to her conscience. "Lily, please. Do it for me."
"But..."
"No buts. Just apologize. It won't take anything from you." This time, I used her words against her.
"Okay, fine." She turned to face Mr rude. "I'm sorry, Rex," she said in a meek voice.
