Arriving home, I finally decided to call my best friends. I have missed them so much but first I still had assignments I haven't done yet. I took out my books and started working on them. When I was done, I adjusted and slouched comfortably on the couch, picked up my laptop and first made a video call to Diamond. Immediately she picked up, she shrieked.
"Lisa, guess who is calling?" Diamond asked in excitement.
I wasn't that surprised that they were together. This saved me a call.
"Don't tell me is who I think it is," Lisa chimed, walking over.
As if on cue, they both screamed my name. Thank goodness I had strong ear drums or else I would have gone deaf.
"I will talk to her first," Lisa said as she blocked Diamond's view from the laptop. I chuckled when I noticed her stuffing her face with chocolate.
"Guys, I know how we can solve this," I said.
Diamond slightly pushed Lisa away, creating space for herself, her face coming back into view. They both looked at me, knowing fully well what I had in mind.
"Let's all say it together on three. One, two...smiling, laughing and dancing, always," we shouted happily, both throwing their hands up in the air.
This was our friendship slogan. Naturally when we chanted it, we would put our palms on top each other and throw it up in the air but since I'm not with them, I couldn't join them anymore. The friendship slogan was formed using our initials as a reminder that we should forever be happy, no matter the situation.
"Why haven't you been calling? We tried reaching you but it didn't go through. We thought you have forgotten us. You know, moved on," Diamond said with a sad tone.
"I would never forget you guys. I was still adjusting to the new environment," I said which was partly the truth.
"Tell us about the new house. Is it as big as the one here?" Lisa asked inquisitively."
I smiled. "The house is way bigger. It is massive."
"Wow! It must be so comfortable and nice," Lisa fawned.
"How is your mum and Isabel? Is Isabel still having those tea parties with Cherish?" Diamond asked.
"They are both fine. You know Isa, she is always with Cherish and guess what, she made mum buy her a new doll house. She said since we moved, Cherish also has to move," I chuckled.
"No way!" They both exclaimed together.
"You need to she her when she was transferring Cherish's properties inside her little toy truck and offloading it in the new doll house with all seriousness," I added.
They laughed out loud before Lisa spoke up, "you know the new couple, Mr and Mrs Clayton who moved into your old house, they are so nice. Mrs Clayton is expecting and they have a teenage son..."
"Gosh! You need to see him," Diamond added cutting Lisa off. "His name is Brayden and boy, is he hot!"
They both giggled excited. I guess my departure added a new amusement in their life.
"Ever since he started our school, all the girls has been fawning over him. Is not like he is hotter than Gage," Lisa said, eating more chocolate.
I wouldn't take Lisa's word for it because she had been hung up on Gage ever since grade five so she literally doesn't see any other guy's charm apart from his.
Diamond eyed her up and down and retorted, "you shouldn't believe her words. There is no one more perfect other than Gage with his stupid curls."
I burst out laughing and Lisa glared at Diamond. Hmmm... seems Diamond is very much interested in Brayden.
Lisa hissed and turned back to the camera. "Guess who came to visit?"
"No way! Grandpa Sam," I excitedly said.
"You got it right. He is in the kitchen fixing a loose pipe with dad," Diamond said.
Grandpa Sam was Diamond's grandfather and we had taken the initiative in calling him grandpa Sam. Grandpa Sam travels a lot and whenever he visits, he teaches us fun things. He makes this crazy juice which taste is off the chart.
"Isabel will be so happy when I tell her about it," I said. If Isabel wasn't already sleeping, she would have been sitting beside me.
"And this is the reason I'm sleeping over. We all love having sleepovers when he visits," Lisa stated.
I smiled. Lisa was right. It was a little tradition of ours and I'm glad that hasn't changed. Lisa mumbled something to me.
Diamond said, "you have to swallow all those chocolate if you want her to understand you."
Lisa frantically chewed before swallowing and said, "I asked how is your new school?"
My face fell which they both noticed and Diamond asked, "what is wrong?"
I explained how I had been living a life of helluva because of Mr rude and when I finished, Lisa spoke.
"That is a funny name, Mr rude but it suits a jerk like that."
"You remember our slang, to keep smiling, laughing and dancing no matter the bad circumstances around us. You have two days to overcome the hurdle and then, his pranks will officially come to an end. I don't think Rex sent Mable to push you into the pool. You should warn her to back off," Diamond finished sternly. "Let's just hope Rex doesn't take your challenge seriously."
"We miss you, Syd but we remembered you would always say to smile, laugh or dance and we did just that. We either danced to your favorite music or played your favorite game. That way, we were always happy. But now, we wouldn't be missing you so much because we will be talking more often," Lisa said sincerely.
My eyes prickled with tears. If only they knew for the past few days that I haven't been a doer of our own rule. I have been bitter for this few days but here were my best friends doing the opposite of that, adhering to something I invented even if I wasn't with them.
"Still going into those your thinking routines?" Diamond asked, jerking me out from my thoughts.
"So what were you thinking about this time?" Lisa demanded.
I explained the past events with mum and they were really happy we settled things and at the same time angry at me for being so headstrong. We talked some more before I slept off. Just two days more and it would be the end of Mr rude's torture.
