Chapter 38 - 40 Percent Off

The boss, upon hearing this, laughed even harder. "I'll be honest with you, I was planning to get rid of this batch of goods. After all, I need the space for other products. I didn't expect you would want them. This time, I'll give you a 40 percent discount. How about that?"

40 percent?

Lin Fan could not believe it. Even for goods that could not be sold, most bosses did not want to sell them at too low a price; otherwise, they would incur heavy losses.

"Boss, are you sure? Selling them to me at 40 percent, wouldn't you be at a loss?" Lin Fan probed.

"Why would I be?" The boss waved his hand dismissively. "I don't know how to address you properly, but your act of saving someone in my store that day earned my utmost respect. It shows you're a person of good character and kindness. These are just some fabrics sitting idle in the warehouse. Selling them to you at 40 percent off, I still worry it might be too high!"

The boss showered Lin Fan with praises, making her feel quite embarrassed. She hadn't expected that her spontaneous act of kindness that day would have such a significant impact.

"Boss, you're flattering me. At that time, the child was in danger, weren't you worried too? I just happened to know a bit about first aid," Lin Fan responded, trying to downplay her actions.

After exchanging a few more words, Lin Fan said, "Boss, let's go and see the goods."

Although Yan Shun followed behind Lin Fan, he tactfully distanced himself, giving space for the conversation between the boss and Lin Fan. However, his outstanding appearance attracted quite a few glances.

When Lin Fan realized this, she attempted to reach out and pull Yan Shun closer, but her hand met thin air. Turning her head, she saw Yan Shun casually strolling around the store.

After some thought, she understood Yan Shun's intention. She greeted him and then followed the boss into the warehouse.

This time, it was a different kind of leftover fabric, but it had still been withdrawn from the market due to outdated colors.

Lin Fan examined them for a moment and picked a few pieces of each design. "Just these, boss. I can't take too many at once."

"No problem," the boss agreed readily. Perhaps it was because he had encountered a customer like Lin Fan, who made quick selections and payments. He raised his hand and swiftly operated the calculator. "You've chosen a total of ten pieces of fabric. These fabrics were originally sold at 10 yuan each. With a 40 percent discount, they are now 6 yuan each. That's a total of 60 yuan."

Compared to the last time, the price had gone up by 1 yuan. However, considering the long term, Lin Fan did not haggle. He immediately handed six 10-yuan bills to the shopkeeper and left the warehouse holding the fabric.

Yan Shun casually found a corner in the shop to sit. Despite his attempts to keep a low profile, he still felt occasional glances in his direction, making him uncomfortable.

But Lin Fan hadn't come out yet, so he could not leave. He worried that Lin Fan might not find him.

After exchanging a few words in a hushed tone with her companion, a middle-aged woman smiled and approached Yan Shun. "Young man, your clothes look really nice. Did your wife make them? Although there are many options in the market, I can tell the good ones at a glance."

Taken aback by the sudden conversation, Yan Shun nodded and realized she was complimenting him. He smiled back, "Yes, my wife made them. Thank you for the compliment, ma'am."

The middle-aged woman, hearing this, confirmed her guess and continued, "Young man, your wife must be in this store, right? I would like her to make something similar for my son. Could I talk to her, either to buy or learn how to make it?"

Yan Shun glanced at his clothes, unable to believe that he could also benefit Lin Fan. His previous frustration dissipated instantly, replaced by excitement. "Ma'am, you might need to wait a bit. She went with the shopkeeper to look at fabrics. She should be out soon."

"No rush, no rush," the middle-aged woman said, sensing a chance. Time was not an issue for her.

Just after their conversation, the middle-aged woman shifted aside, and Yan Shun saw the shopkeeper and Lin Fan coming out with the fabric.

He quickly stood up to help. "There's so much fabric. Why didn't you ask me to help with carry them?"

His tone carried a hint of dissatisfaction.

Lin Fan was momentarily surprised. After the fabric was handed over, she felt considerably lighter. She smiled, "I just carried them out casually. If I had to come out to inform you, I would have to make an extra trip. Besides, you've helped plenty, right?"
