"Why doesn't Black Jack spend a little more time here? The place would be much livelier if he did," Xiya lamented.
Jian Qing gave her a side-eye, bluntly remarking, "Just admit that you like the drama."
"Only my dear understands me," she replied, tossing Jian Qing a flirtatious glance.
Jian Qing closed her book and got up to ascend the staircase.
"Hey, why are you leaving too?" Xiya called out.
"I'm afraid your contagious laughter might poison my tea," Jian Qing replied as she continued upward.
Xiya sighed, patting her round belly.
"Sorry, little beauty, looks like there's no show today."
Upon reaching the top of the stairs, Jian Qing headed straight for the study.
Pushing open the door, she found a man on a phone call.
Jian Qing walked in without uttering a word to avoid disturbing him.
"Mmm, I got it."
"I'll go back tomorrow afternoon."
After hanging up, he beckoned to her.
"Come here!"
Jian Qing circled the desk and stepped up to his side.
