"I have another banquet later, so I won't be having dinner at home." An Chong closed his eyes and feigned sleep, missing the flash of resentment in Zhao Xuan's eyes.
"Achong, there's something I want to talk to you about."
"Hmm?" An Chong responded noncommittally.
"Aman has been in prison for quite a while now, given that we're all family, do you think we could help get her out?" Zhao Xuan asked tentatively, carefully observing the changes in his expression.
At her words, An Chong's eyes suddenly snapped open, and he sat up straight. He turned to look at Zhao Xuan, his gaze dark and indecipherable, "What did you just say?"
Zhao Xuan had not expected such a strong reaction from him, and her hands involuntarily clenched, "I was thinking, Aman has been in jail for so long and she has been punished. Maybe we could help her out."
An Chong scrutinized her, speaking deliberately, "How come you're bringing up Aman all of a sudden?"
