Chapter 1 - SOULMATES FOREVER

CHAPTER ONE

The warm rays of sunshine streamed through the window, waking Gloria from her slumber. She sat up in bed, stretching her arms and legs, and yawned as she looked around her bedroom. It was a beautiful room, decorated with pastel colors and soft fabrics. She felt a wave of gratitude wash over her as she realized how lucky she was to be able to live in such luxury.

Her thoughts turned to the events of the previous night, and a smile crept across her lips. It had been the most perfect evening, filled with laughter and romance.

She had gone out to dinner with her parents, and her father had surprised her with tickets to a Broadway show. They had enjoyed a delicious meal and had talked about everything under the sun. After the show, they had gone for a walk through Central Park, where they had talked for hours. It was the kind of night she would never forget.

Now, as she sat in bed, sipping her morning coffee, she felt her thoughts drifting back to the handsome stranger she had met at the show. She couldn't stop thinking about him, about his blue eyes and the way he had made her laugh.

Gloria wondered if she would ever see him again. She had been so caught up in the moment, she hadn't thought to get his number or even his name. She wondered if he would be thinking about her the way she was thinking about him. What if they were destined to meet again? The thought sent a shiver down her spine.

Just then, her phone buzzed. She picked it up and saw that she had a text message from an unknown number. Her heart skipped a beat as she opened the message. It read, "Hi, it's James. I couldn't stop thinking about you after our chance encounter. I hope you don't think I'm crazy, but I couldn't resist reaching out. I know this might be a long shot, but I'd love to see you again. Would you like to grab coffee or a drink sometime?"

Gloria's heart was racing. She couldn't believe that he had reached out to her. It was like something out of a movie. But she also felt nervous. What if they met up and there was no spark? What if he was completely different than the person she had met at the show?

She took a deep breath and responded, "I'd love to meet up. I'm free this Friday night. Can we meet at the coffee shop near the park? It's the one we passed on our walk last night."

A few seconds later, she received his reply. "Perfect! I'll see you there at 7 pm. I can't wait!"

Gloria put down her phone and smiled. Her heart was still racing, but now it was with excitement. She couldn't wait for Friday to arrive. She had a feeling that something special was about to happen.

* * *

Friday night couldn't come soon enough for Gloria. As she got ready for her date, she felt a mixture of excitement and nerves. She had never met someone like this before, someone who seemed to just "get" her.

As she stepped out of her apartment and onto the bustling street, she couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. She walked to the coffee shop, her heart pounding in her chest. When she arrived, she spotted James sitting at a table by the window. As she approached the table, James stood up and smiled at her. "Gloria! It's great to see you. How are you?" he said, extending his hand.

"I'm doing great. Thanks for asking," she replied, taking his hand and shaking it.

They both sat down and chatted about their lives, getting to know each other even more. As they talked, Gloria couldn't help but feel like she had known James for years, not just a few days.

He was funny, intelligent, and had a depth of character that she found so refreshing. After an hour of chatting, they decided to take a walk around the park. The sun was setting, and the lights from the city were starting to twinkle in the distance.

As they walked, they talked about their hopes and dreams, and what they wanted to accomplish in life. James was so easy to talk to, and Gloria felt like she could be herself with him.

As they reached the end of the park, James stopped and turned to face Gloria. "I've had a really wonderful time with you tonight.I was wondering if you'd like to go out again sometime?" he asked, a hopeful expression on his face.

Gloria's heart fluttered as she thought about his question. "I'd love to go out with you again. This has been the best time I've had in a long time," she said, smiling.

James beamed at her response. "Great! I'll call you to make plans."

As they said their goodbyes, Gloria felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. She couldn't wait to see what the future held for her and James.

CHAPTER TWO

A week had passed since their first date, and Gloria had been feeling giddy ever since. She had never met anyone like James before, and she couldn't stop thinking about him. He was different from anyone she had ever known.

She had tried to keep herself busy to distract herself from the butterflies in her stomach, but it was no use. Her thoughts kept wandering back to him.

As she was sitting in her apartment, she heard the doorbell ring. She rushed to the door, hoping it was James.

And it was! "Hi, Gloria!"

As Gloria opened the door, she saw James standing there, looking dapper in a dark blue suit and a crisp white shirt. He was holding a bouquet of red roses, and his eyes lit up when he saw her. "You look beautiful," he said, his eyes taking her in from head to toe. She was wearing a simple black dress and her hair was swept up in a bun.

"Thank you, you look very handsome yourself," she said, a smile spreading across her face. "Come in, come in," she said, stepping aside to let him in. As they walked into the living room, James set the roses on the coffee table and turned to face her. He reached for her hand and held it gently. "I've been thinking about you all week. I can't stop thinking about how much I enjoyed our time together," he said, his voice soft and sincere.

Gloria felt her heart flutter as he spoke. She had been feeling the same way, but she was nervous to say it out loud. "I've been thinking about you too," she said, her voice quiet but firm.

He smiled and pulled her into a hug. As they stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, the world seemed to stop for a moment. All the noise and chaos of everyday life faded away, and they were lost in each other's embrace. Time seemed to slow down and all that mattered in that moment was the two of them.

Finally, James pulled away and looked down at her, his eyes filled with emotion. "I don't want to rush anything, but I just want you to know how I feel. I like you, a lot. And I want to take things slow, but I hope that maybe someday we can be more than just friends."

Gloria was speechless. She had been so caught up in the moment that she hadn't realized how deep her feelings for James were. She didn't know what to say, but she knew she wanted to tell him how she felt too. "I feel the same way," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "I don't want to rush anything either, but I want to see where this goes. I really like you too."

James smiled and pulled her close again. They stood there for a while, just holding each other and enjoying the peace that came with being in each other's arms.

After a few minutes, James pulled away and said, "I should probably get going. I have an early morning tomorrow."

Gloria nodded and gave him a small smile. "I understand. It was really nice seeing you."

"It was wonderful seeing you too," he said. He leaned in and gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek. "Good night, sweet dreams," he said as he turned to leave.

She watched him walk to the door and then stood there for a while, replaying the events of the evening in her mind.

* * *

The next day, Gloria was sitting at her desk, working on a project, when her friend, Sarah, walked by. "Hey, how was your date?" Sarah asked, a big smile on her face.

Gloria turned to face her and said, "It was really nice. I really like him."

"That's so great! I'm glad to hear it. So, are you guys going to see each other again?" Sarah asked.

Gloria nodded. "Yeah, we're going to get together again next week."

Sarah beamed and gave her a hug. "That's wonderful!"

After a moment, Gloria pulled away and looked at Sarah with a slightly serious expression. "I have to admit, I'm a little nervous," she said. "What if it doesn't work out? What if I get my heart broken?"

Sarah put a hand on her shoulder and said, "It's natural to feel a little nervous, but don't let your fears get the best of you. You have to take a leap of faith and trust that things will work out for the best. And even if it doesn't work out with this guy, you'll still have learned something from the experience.

After their conversation, Sarah turned to go back to her desk, leaving Gloria alone with her thoughts. She sat there, staring out the window, her dark hair falling in soft waves around her face. She was wearing a simple, black dress that flattered her figure and made her skin look radiant. She had a slight smile on her lips, but her eyes betrayed a hint of anxiety. She seemed deep in thought, unsure of what the future held for her.

Suddenly, she shook her head as if to clear her thoughts and turned back to her computer. As she focused on her work, her mind kept wandering back to her conversation with Sarah. Part of her was excited about the possibility of a relationship with James, but another part of her was afraid of getting hurt. She wondered if she was being too cautious, but then she remembered the pain of her last breakup and decided it was better to be safe than sorry. But even as she told herself that, she couldn't shake the feeling that there was something special about James.

James was tall and muscular, with dark hair and intense, green eyes. He always dressed in well-tailored suits, giving him an air of sophistication and success. He worked in finance, making a lot of money, while Gloria worked as a social worker, earning a modest salary. Even though their backgrounds were different, they connected on a deep level. His confidence and charm made him irresistible, and his intelligence and wit made him even more attractive. He had a way with words that could make her laugh and think at the same time. As she thought about James, she found herself hoping that their next date would be as enjoyable as the first one. She imagined them having a romantic dinner, followed by a walk in the park, where they would share their hopes and dreams for the future. She wondered what it would be like to be in a relationship with someone who was so different from her, but who seemed to understand her in a way that no one else ever had. A part of her was still afraid to open herself up to the possibility of heartbreak, but another part of her knew that she had to take a chance. As Gloria's thoughts drifted in a more intimate direction, her computer pinged with an incoming email. She pulled herself out of her daydream and clicked on the message, which was from her boss. It was a reminder about an upcoming project deadline, and she knew she needed to get back to work. But as she started typing, her thoughts kept wandering back to James. She wondered if he was thinking about her too, and she couldn't help but feel a little bit giddy.

CHAPTER THREE

It was a week later, and Gloria was getting ready for her date with James. She took a long shower, letting the hot water wash away the stress of the week. Then she dried off and took extra care getting dressed, picking out a red dress that accentuated her curves and made her feel beautiful. She put on her makeup, taking extra time with her eyeshadow and lipstick, and then she applied a light, floral perfume. She took a deep breath, feeling ready to take a chance on love.

When she got to the restaurant, James was already there, waiting for her at the table. Gloria had put on a simple black dress, with a classic cut and a bit of lace at the neckline. She wore her hair in a loose, wavy style, and she had chosen a light touch of makeup that enhanced her natural features. James was wearing a tailored suit in a charcoal gray, with a crisp white shirt and a dark blue tie. He looked handsome and confident, and Gloria couldn't help but feel a bit giddy.

As they walked up to each other, their eyes met and they both smiled, a mix of excitement and nervousness passing between them. "Hey," said James. "You look amazing," he said, giving her a gentle hug.

They took their seats and ordered drinks, and the conversation flowed easily. They talked about their lives, their goals, and their passions. They shared stories about their childhoods and families, and they found that they had a lot in common. But what struck Gloria the most was how comfortable she felt around James. She felt like she could be herself, without any pretense or judgment.

After they had finished their meals, they decided to take a walk around the city. The city around them was vibrant and alive, the sidewalks filled with people walking to their destinations, the air alive with the sounds of music and conversation. The streetlights shone brightly, casting a warm glow on the buildings and trees. The air was warm and humid, and a light breeze carried the scents of flowers and street food. The city was a sea of life, and they were in the middle of it all, walking hand in hand.

They stopped for a moment to admire the view from a bridge, the city lights reflected in the water below. They strolled through the busy streets, hand in hand, feeling the energy of the city around them. They stopped at a street vendor and bought some ice cream, then found a quiet spot to sit and enjoy the treat.

As they sat there, savoring the ice cream and each other's company, James turned to Gloria and said, "You know, I'm really glad we met. I feel like I've known you forever."

Gloria smiled and looked into his eyes. "I feel the same way.

* * *

Gloria's doorbell rang, startling her. She wiped her hands on a dish towel and went to answer the door. When she opened it, she saw Sarah standing on her doorstep, a worried expression on her face.

"Hi, Sarah. What are you doing here?" asked Gloria, her heart racing.

"I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd stop by. Can I come in?" asked Sarah, her voice shaking.

Gloria nodded, stepping aside to let her in. Sarah followed her into the kitchen, and they both sat at the table.

Gloria busied herself with putting out some snacks and making a pot of tea. The kitchen was cozy, with warm tones and a large window that looked out over the backyard. There were herbs growing in pots on the window sill, and the air smelled of cinnamon and ginger. The oven was warm, and the kitchen was filled with the sounds of pots and pans clanging and the tea kettle whistling.

Sarah looked around, taking in the cozy atmosphere. "This is a nice setup," she said, it was her first time visiting since Gloria's new set of kitchen furnitures arrived. "It feels very homey."

Gloria smiled.

"So," Sarah began, "how's work been going?"

Gloria let out a long sigh. "Work's been pretty stressful lately. I've been putting in long hours, and it's taking a toll on my personal life."

Sarah nodded sympathetically. "I hear you. It can be tough to balance work and life sometimes. What about your love life? Any new developments?"

Gloria blushed slightly. "We're not about to talk about James". Gloria cleared her throat. "How's Steve? Are the two of you still together?"

Sarah's face broke into a wide smile. "Steve and I are doing great! We're talking about moving in together."

Gloria's eyes widened. "Wow, that's quite the step! Are you sure you're ready for that?"

Sarah nodded. "I think we're both ready. We've been dating for over a year now, and it just feels like the next logical step."

Gloria felt a pang of envy. She wanted that kind of stability in her own life.

Gloria's heart leapt as she heard the doorbell ring. Could it be? She ran to the door and opened it. Sure enough, there was a courier standing there with a large envelope in hand. "Is this Gloria Johnson?" he asked.

She nodded excitedly. "Yes, that's me!"

The courier handed her the envelope. "This is for you. Have a nice day!" he said, and then he was off.

Gloria closed the door and stared at the envelope. Her hands were shaking as she tore it open.

Inside the envelope was a letter. Gloria unfolded it, her eyes scanning the words.

"Dear Ms. Johnson, we are pleased to offer you the position of Marketing Manager at Yenie Drop Inc. Your start date will be October 1st. Please let us know if you have any questions. Sincerely, the HR team."

Gloria let out a shriek of joy. She had been waiting for this letter for weeks, and now it was finally here! She raced to the kitchen to inform Sarah.

"Sarah! Sarah! You'll never believe it! I got the job!"

There was a pause, and then Sarah retorted. "What?! That's amazing, Gloria! Congratulations!" she said, the excitement evident in her voice. "When do you start?"

"October 1st! I can't believe it! It's like a dream come true," said Gloria, her heart still racing.

Sarah laughed. "You deserve this, you know. You've worked so hard. So, what's next?"

Gloria thought for a moment. "Well, I guess I need to start looking for a new apartment.

"What about James?" Sarah asked. "Are you going to tell him about the move? What does this mean for your relationship?"

Gloria felt a knot in her stomach. "I don't know. I really like him, and I'd hate to have to end things because of this. But I don't know if long distance is really an option for us. He's so rooted here, and I'm not sure if he'd want to leave."

"You won't know unless you ask him. What's the worst that can happen?"

"I suppose you're right. But I'm so afraid of his answer. What if he doesn't want to move? What if he doesn't want to do long distance? I don't want to lose him, but I also don't want to turn down this amazing opportunity. I just don't know what to do." Gloria felt like she was in a no-win situation.

"It's a tough situation, I'll give you that. But you need to figure out what you really want. What's more important to you, the job or James?"

Gloria thought about it for a moment.

"I know it's not an easy question, but I think you need to be honest with yourself about your priorities. It's not about choosing the 'right' answer, it's about choosing the answer that's right for you. So, what's your answer?"

Gloria sighed. "I know this sounds selfish, but I think the job is more important to me. It's an amazing opportunity, and I think it's what I need for my career. But I'm also so scared of losing James."

"There's no shame in that"
