Maya's lips parted in shock, she watched as he walked out on her and headed towards the elevator.
Without succumbing to defeat, she rushed after him but by the time she reached him, the elevator door had closed.
She had been having a fear of elevators since that day but she still had no choice but to use one. She ran towards the opposite elevator and desperately pressed the button.
The elevator opened and she rushed in, immediately pressing the button that would take her to the last floor.
Her heart was racing so fast, not from the thought of almost dying again but the thought of losing Eric troubled her.
As the elevator door opened, she dashed out of it and ran after Eric who was almost at the exit door of the company.
"Eric," Maya called but he didn't care to turn back.
"Eric, wait!" She yelled and ran after him. She chased after him to the parking lot.
