"Come on, Leo," Zora urged Leo to join her at the Café Shop.
"Miss Zora, I'm sorry, but I really want to familiarize myself with the rules and regulations of Sector A," Leo replied earnestly.
Zora's expression shifted, and she pouted, telling Leo, " That was a test to see if you could voice what you really think."
Leo thought to himself, "Miss Zora, your words say one thing, but your face tells a different story."
Zora retorted, "I really don't want to talk about dull stuff."
Just then, the room was invaded by three mysterious figures who forcibly entered.
One of the guys exclaimed, "Zora, darling, we've tracked you down."
Another chimed in, "Zora, your favorite café shop just introduced a new flavor. Let's go check it out."
The third guy added, "How about we head to my mansion? I'll personally serve you."
Zora's initial reaction was one of disgust, but then a sly idea formed in her mind. She proposed, "How about this? If you guys explain the rules and regulations of Sector A, we'll all go to the Café shop. Deal?"
All three of them readily agreed, saying in unison, "Deal."
Zora began to introduce Leo, but before she could continue, one of the newcomers interrupted, "We already know everything about him. His name is Leon, the son of Cyrus Stronghold, and he's colorless."
The first guy gestured towards the second, and the second guy continued, "He doesn't have any family and not many friends. There were a couple of acquaintances named Ash and Codey, but he always kept his distance."
Then, both of them turned to the third guy, and they added, "I don't know anything about this guy. Leon, how about I tell you all about Zora? Like how, even at the age of 16, she can't sleep without her lion pillow."
Zora swiftly interrupted, her face flushing with embarrassment, "Stop, stop. Juk, I'm sorry for that, Leo."
Leo was taken aback and commented, "You're amazing, Miss Zora. You're just 16, like me, and yet you're already Rank A and one of the top researchers."
Zora's face turned a deeper shade of red, and the three guys noticed it. They huddled together and whispered, "We've got ourselves a new rival. Let's keep an eye on him."
Zora then introduced the three guys, saying, "This is Jil, the guy with horns is Demi-Demon."
"Greetings, Mr. Leon," Jil greeted politely.
Zora continued, "This is Jung, the guy with sharp fangs and red eyes Demi-Rabisus."
"Zora, darling, how sweet of you to notice my beautiful red eyes," Jung expressed with a smirk.
Finally, she introduced, "And this is Juk, the guy with small white wings on his back is Demi-Xiaos."
Juk greeted Leon with a flourish, "Monsieur, Leon."
Zora added, "These three are brothers, and they call themselves the J-Trios."
Leon was astonished and remarked, "Brothers? But they're different Species."
Zora explained, "The J-Idiots, take it from here."
Jil began, "Leon, in Sector A, children of noble lineage don't participate in wars like others. They attend Soul Crops but are exempt from actual combat."
Jung continued, "The three of us are Demi-Species from the Auger family in Sector A7. Auger's family uses the DNA of various species to create and train children for warfare. Only royalty were allowed to have Demi-Species because each species has a unique mana density surrounding them."
Juk added, "Interplanetary relationships and natural births among different planets are virtually impossible due to the varying mana densities. Due to the elevated mana density on each planet, staying for extended periods on other worlds proved challenging for certain individuals. Demi-Species were created through controlled mixing of DNA from two species. However, not all Demi-Species possess a Colorless Soul. They are exceedingly rare now, with perhaps a 1 in 100,000 ratio."
Jil continued, "Even among the three of us, only one is Colorless. I have a White Soul, and Juk has a Dark Soul. Jung here, well, he's Colorless, probably because he has Rabisus DNA. Rabisus DNA is notoriously difficult to obtain, especially from a planet where the Demi Project is banned."
Leon inquired, "Banned?"
Jung explained, "Yes, Leon. Not all planets consent to this practice. Out of seven planets, only Earth, Xiaos, and Stihians have agreed."
Juk chimed in, looking despondent, "Mainly because the success rate is still just 30%."
Leon looked grim and asked, "So, it only works 30% of the time? What happens to the other 70% of the children?"
Zora approached Leon, holding his hand, and said softly, "The remaining 70% either die before the age of 10 or suffer from the inability to express emotions, aging rapidly. I know, Leo, this is a lot to take in. That's why only royals and high-ranking members of the Researchers and Soul Crops are aware of the Demi-Species. You're Colorless, and you need to know this so we can uncover the truth behind your Soul. Perhaps we can find a way to have Demi-children without resorting to those cruel methods."
Leon inquired, "The truth about my Soul?"
Zora replied, her hand still on his, "Leo, you're unique. You're the first individual ever born in a womb with a Colorless Soul. Up until now, Colorless Souls have either been a result of direct offspring in Demi-Species or the Demi Project. That's why there's a significant commotion across all the planets right now."
Leon confessed, "I wish I could provide some insight into my soul and past to put an end to this cruel Demi-Project, but I truly don't know anything about it."
Zora consoled him, saying, "It's alright, Leo. Time will reveal what we need to know."
Jil added, "The public remains unaware of the Demi-Project; they believe that Demi-Species and Colorless Souls are the result of individuals with high Mana Manifestation. Let's keep it that way."
Juk included, "Our brother Jung has a Colorless Soul like you, but he can't express feelings or feel pain like you can."
Jung approached Leon, and Zora interrupted, saying, "Zora, how long do you intend to hold onto Leon's hand?"
Zora suddenly punched Jung, apologizing to Leo, "Sorry, Leo, that was uncalled for."
Jung remarked, "You're supposed to apologize to me."
Leon chuckled, and seeing this, Zora gave a small smile, while the J-Trios seethed with annoyance.
Zora declared, "Alright, let's keep our promise. We can discuss the rest while heading to the café."
The J-Trios eagerly agreed, raising their hands, and saying, "Absolutely."
As they all left the room en route to the café.
Jung approached Leon and spoke with a stoic demeanor, "You must be wondering why I can't express feelings but still show expressions on my face, and why we keep proposing to Zora. I mirror the expressions from my brothers' faces, and the proposal is part of our family's mission to bring the Cadell family under Auger Control. You'll learn everything soon. Just stay alive until then."
As the group made their way to the café, Commander Everett and Valerie arrived at the Café Shop, having travelled from Sector A8 to A7 on the Hyper Speed Train.
Commander Everett told Valerie, "People are starting to notice us. If we keep this up, we'll be surrounded."
Everett reassured her, saying, "Rest assured, Ma'am. I've brought disguises to keep us inconspicuous."
Valerie praised him, stating, "Everett, you truly excel at this. By the way, which one is Leo?"
Everett answered, "Madam, he's the young man with white hair and blue eyes."
Valerie's fist tightened with determination, "Did you see that? He's the one who's got his arm around her. I'm going to confront him."
Everett mused silently, "Isn't that a reversal of roles? She's the one who's wrapped her arm around him."
Commander tried to calm her, "Listen, he's a decent young man. He won't make any inappropriate advances. Perhaps it's unnecessary to shadow them."
Valerie struck the Commander lightly in the gut, "Silence. My daughter is a sweet girl, and while she might fall for Leo's trickery, I won't. Just wait, Leo, I will expose your true nature."
Valerie signaled to Everett and whispered in his ear. Everett appeared anxious and muttered, "It's risky, and your daughter is nearby."
Valerie clenched her fist, and Everett quickly conceded, "Understood, Madam."
Zora and the others arrived at the café and eagerly ordered the new flavor of coffee. However, the waiter regretfully informed them, "I'm sorry, but that flavor has already been sold out. Can I suggest something else for you?"
Zora sighed, "No need; we'll be leaving then."
As soon as Zora made that statement, the J-Trios appeared flustered and announced, "Look at the time, we have to go. Goodbye, Leon, see you at training."
Leon was left bewildered.
Zora said with an exaggerated smile, "Leon, perhaps this flavor is available in another sector. Shall we try there?"
Leon comprehended the situation on why J-Trios left and replied, "I'd love to, Miss Zora, but I'm still tired from not getting enough sleep last night."
Zora's gaze turned icy, and it seemed as if she was conveying, "Fine, take care."
Leon thought to himself, "Your expression is practically screaming at me to vanish."
As they parted ways, Zora secretly ventured to another sector to satisfy her craving for the café's new flavor.
Meanwhile, Everett approached Valerie and remarked, "Madam, I purchased all the coffee with the new flavor from that café."
Valerie smiled with satisfaction, "Excellent, my plan is coming together."
The Commander, curious, inquired, "Is buying coffee your master plan?"
Valerie responded, "You know how Zora can get when she doesn't get what she wants. Remember the last time we went to another planet to fulfill her request? The look on her face when she received that item, priceless."
The Commander realized, "Now I understand why Everett always gives me that strange look when I'm with Zora."
Valerie concluded, "You two stay here; I'll talk to Leo alone."
Valerie left before the Commander could finish his sentence, "He may appear gentle and unassuming, but he's a sharp young man. Approaching him directly might not be the best approach."
Everett inquired, "Sir, I wonder if the HQ meeting was not your initial encounter with Leon?"
The Commander gave a wry smile and said, "Let's get going; we have work to do."
As Leon made his way back to his residence, an enigmatic figure wearing a mask covering her mouth and a black cloak confronted him, accusing, "Leo, we've finally found you, you colorless wretch."
Leon looked utterly baffled and inquired, "Are you perhaps Miss Zora's mother?"
Valerie was taken aback, feeling a bit embarrassed, and leaned in to whisper in Leon's ear, "How did you figure it out?"
Leon, feeling nervous, stammered, "Well, only Miss Zora calls me Leo, and she mentioned that she told her mother about me, and you both have the same eyes."
Leon contemplated to himself, "Perhaps I should have feigned ignorance to spare her feelings. After all, she and Miss Zora share the same trait of wearing their emotions on their faces."
Valerie smiled warmly and handed him a generous supply of the new coffee flavor Zora had been yearning for. Without uttering a word, she nodded and took her leave.
Leon finally learns the truth about Demi-Species and Royals. Soon, he will start his training in Soul Crops. Stay tuned for more chapters.
