On the other side-
John Wick was driving towards the base.
Charles leaned back in his seat and asked, "Kakashi, did anything important happen while Coulson was on the phone?"
"Lord Charles, Coulson found an ancient temple or something like that and is planning to send people to take control," Kakashi replied.
Hearing about SHIELD discovering an ancient temple, Charles thought for a moment but couldn't think of anything useful.
"An ancient temple?" he repeated. "Let's see what they can excavate from it."
Charles wasn't concerned about Coulson's nervousness; perhaps it was just a regular archaeological dig. Even if some artifacts were unearthed, unless they could be used for recharging, he didn't care.
…
Afghanistan-
Nick Morton and Ferrell were the first to meet their superior, Gideon Frost.
Gideon Frost arrived with a large troop on an armed helicopter. As soon as he got off the plane, he shouted at them, "I was told you were doing advanced reconnaissance about 100 miles from here."
Nick Morton looked at his excited superior and replied loudly, "Yes, sir!"
"But based on intelligence, we had reason to believe that armed militants have taken civilians hostage."
"We needed to make a decision, whether to wait for Delta Force support or to act alone."
However, Ferrell interjected, "Actually, it was Sergeant Morton's observation!"
It was evident that Ferrell was somewhat displeased with Morton for almost getting him killed.
Nick Morton continued, "We didn't expect the villagers to have already evacuated."
Gideon Frost walked towards the discovered pit and shouted, "Delta Force, fortify the south side."
Nick Morton added, "Sir, when we realized we were surrounded by insurgents, it was too late."
"We were discovered and then subjected to intense gunfire."
Seeing that Ferrell didn't offer any explanation for his actions, Nick changed the subject:
"Well... Sergeant Ferrell has been too modest. He risked his life to save me."
Ferrell looked at Morton in surprise.
"He's a hero. In fact, I want to recommend him as a role model for the unit."
Upon hearing this, Gideon Frost stopped in his tracks and then said, "I have my own conclusion."
"Sir?"
Gideon Frost glanced around and then said, "The two idiots from the Remote Reconnaissance Team, that's you."
"You were ahead of the enemy, running all over northern Iraq."
"Unfortunately, not for reconnaissance purposes."
Gideon Frost walked up to Nick Morton and said, "You were looking for relics."
"Stealing artifacts that have not yet been made public and selling them on the black market."
"At the same time, those people were trying to destroy these 5,000-year-old relics..."
"What a great scam that unintentionally covered up your theft."
At this moment, a woman walked up from behind the two men and said, "Sergeant Morton!"
Upon hearing someone call him, Morton and Ferrell both turned their heads to see a blonde beauty approaching Nick Morton. He then slapped him across the face.
"Smack!"
The crisp sound of the slap echoed in the scene.
After slapping him, Jenny asked, "Where is it?"
Nick Morton, who was bewildered by the slap, looked at the woman in front of him in surprise and asked, "What? What are you talking about?"
Jenny looked at the man in front of her and said expressionlessly, "The letters and maps you stole from me."
"Maps? I don't know what you're talking about."
"How could I... I didn't even have the chance to take from you anything, miss?"
Jenny looked at Morton's superior and smiled, "Come on..."
"Colonel, Morton thinks it would be embarrassing for me to talk about it here."
"Then let me tell you, three days ago in Baghdad, I let him stay overnight at my hotel room."
"When I fell asleep, he rummaged through my belongings."
"I don't feel embarrassed at all, Nick."
Nick saw his superior's disdainful look and looked at the woman in front of him in disbelief.
Then Jenny continued, "Does it disgust me? Yes!"
"Do I regret it? Ah, of course."
"But mainly I'm amazed by your ability..."
"You managed to imitate the most intimate human relationship just for 15 seconds?"
Ferrell couldn't help but burst into laughter upon hearing this, immediately covering his mouth with his hand.
As for their superior, Gideon Frost didn't laugh, but looked at Nick and asked, "Where's the map, Morton?"
Nick Morton looked at his teammate and his superior, and immediately defended himself, "Colonel, I admit..."
"Miss Jenny and I had a pleasant night in Baghdad."
"A long and satisfying night."
"If her reaction was genuine."
"But Colonel, I only left with fond memories."
"Now that I think about it, maybe I overlooked saying goodbye to her the next morning."
"But I didn't want to wake her up because she was too tired."
"Is this the kind of return I get for my warm love?"
Seeing Nick saying this, Jenny shook her head with a smile and walked towards the pit behind Nick.
Nick then said to his leader, "Well, Colonel."
"You see, 'never offend a woman'."
Jenny, who walked to the edge of the pit, looked at the building below and exclaimed, "Oh, my God!"
Jenny's exclamation made the three men look over.
Then the three of them walked over together and looked at the giant statue inside the pit.
"It's Egyptian!"
After walking over, Ferrell asked first, "Why are you so surprised?"
Nick, who came later, explained, "We're in the Persian Gulf, Ferrell."
Ferrell realized and looked at the giant statue below, frowning, "That's right, Egypt is 1,000 miles away, so it's a bit surprising."
Jenny immediately ran to her assistant and ordered, "Put those down quickly, go and get the rest of the equipment."
Jenny's assistant, with a camera hanging around his neck, immediately replied, "Got it!"
While Jenny sorted out the equipment from her backpack, she said to Gideon Frost, "Colonel, this is a major discovery. I need your men to protect this village."
