Chapter 313 - Chapter 313: Apology

While Charles felt a secret joy, it is said that the elements used in the later development of Tony's reactor are isotopes of the Space Gem. Unexpectedly, it turns out to be true.

However, he is unsure of the comparative value of recharging this element versus energy blocks.

After inspecting the latest version of the Ark Reactor in his hands, Charles returned it to Tony and asked, "What is the cost of this thing?"

Surprised by Charles's sudden question about the cost, Tony thought for a moment before saying, "The cost is approximately around 30 million. However, I have no intention of selling this thing. Even in the field of supplying clean energy, I still use the old palladium element reactor."

"Why do you ask about this? Do you have any plans?"

Charles pondered for a moment and then said, "I need this thing, but I don't need your Arc Reactor; I need the elements inside it."

"This time the mission commission condition is that you sell me this new element."

Tony, somewhat incredulous, said, "Wait a minute, you mean you don't need the matching Arc Reactor but only this new element?"

"Yes, you can pack this new element in other forms and sell it to me."

"As for the price, considering our friendship, you can't charge me too high, right?"

Tony remained silent for a moment, as if making a decision. Finally, he opened his mouth with a smile and said, "You are quite cunning, no wonder you asked me about the cost. I should have said it's a billion."

Then he changed the subject, "What do you need it for?"

"This new element is not only the energy source for your steel armor but also a good material for the extraordinary world. So I need it, and the quantity won't be low in the short term."

"Okay, I promise you, but you have to promise me one thing."

"What is it?"

"A small matter, you know, Rhodey and you are both my friends. Last time, that guy spoke without thinking and offended you..."

"OK, call him in."

At this moment, Rhodey standing outside the door felt helpless. Tony had found him last night, asking him to apologize to Charles and insisting that they shake hands and make amends.

As a Colonel in the Air Force, holding such an important position in military, he was actually asked to apologize to someone. To be honest, he was a bit reluctant at first.

However, considering the terrifying strength of the other party and Tony's persuasion, Rhodey told himself that he was definitely not a coward who is backing down; it was just what his heart wants to do.

While Rhodey was outside thinking, the door suddenly opened, revealing Tony's figure.

"Come in; he has agreed."

Following Tony, Rhodey walked in, looked at Charles Doyle on the side, then walked over, and apologized, "I'm sorry, it was my offense last time. Please forgive my rudeness."

Seeing Rhodey extend his hand and the expression in Tony's eyes, Charles finally reached out and shook hands with Rhodey.

"Well, I accept your apology. At that time, I just wanted to stop you and Tony from continuing to fight."

Seeing the two shake hands and talk, Tony immediately opened the whiskey in the room and poured it.

He poured three cups and handed one each to Rhodey and Charles, saying, "Come, let's celebrate this beautiful day."

The three raised their glasses and drank. After some casual conversation, Ginny walked in and said, "Mr. Charles, it's your turn."

Charles followed Ginny out of the room and arrived at the prepared podium. The host on the stage introduced, "Now, please welcome the founder of Heart-to-Heart Charity Foundation, Mr. Charles Doyle, to deliver a speech."

Standing at the podium, Charles looked at the numerous media below, people from all walks of life, and a group of children sitting quietly on small stools. He began to speak:

"Every day, someone stands on the stage, on a show, saying we should seize the future and pass it on. So, what exactly is the future?"

Charles looked down at the children and continued, "In my eyes, children are the future, they are inheritors. Only by giving them warmth and knowledge, the future will be infinitely bright."

"Perhaps in the future, among them, there may be teachers, lawyers, doctors, athletes, or even presidents. All of this is possible."

"I hereby announce that the Heart-to-Heart Charity Foundation will allocate 100 million dollars annually, specifically for the support of orphans."

"For children who come out of the Starting Point Orphanage and have the ability to enroll in college, we will provide them with special interest-free student loans, allowing them to easily pursue higher education without worrying about tuition."

As Charles's words fell, there was a huge cheer from the audience. Many were amazed at Charles's unexpected dedication to charity.

At this point, a reporter asked, "Thank you very much, Mr. Charles, for your selfless dedication. Your care is the wealth of these children for a lifetime."

"But regarding the interest-free student loans, can it be extended to a wider audience? You know, there are many children outside who, due to economic issues in their families, cannot afford to go to college."

Looking at the standing reporter, Charles smiled and replied, "There is an ancient Chinese saying, 'When poor, be virtuous; when rich, help others.'"

"I don't have the ability or wealth to help everyone. What I can do is to give adopted orphans a better future."

"Will your well-constructed orphanage, with such enticing conditions for the future, lead to some families deliberately abandoning their own flesh and blood here, leaving them for you to nurture?"

Seeing that a reporter raised a sensitive topic, Charles hesitated. Such things could be done by the people, and some might even see this place as a convenient place to abandon their burdens.

"The orphanage has strict criteria for the admission of children. If there is an abandoned baby at the door, we will immediately initiate an investigation to find the child's parents."

"If there is intentional abandonment by those who have the ability to raise children, we will use the legal weapon, and abandonment is a crime that can result in imprisonment."

"I built the orphanage with the initial intention of giving a glimmer of hope to children who cannot survive normally, not to make it a way out for some adults."

As Charles's words fell, there was enthusiastic applause from the audience. Everyone felt Charles's compassionate heart and his passion for charity.
