Chapter 91 - Chapter 091: Foolishness

Charles Doyle drove his recently repaired Mercedes 300SL back to his office.

Over the past week, he had acquired several items through the system.

During this time, Charles obtained the following rewards from daily check-ins: 50 servings of delicious ramen x2, 50 gold coins, 5000 copper coins, 200 reincarnation stones, 1 Ninja Recruitment Scroll, and 1 Ninjutsu Scroll.

As for the mission guild, Sasuke and Rock Lee had completed a total of ten C-rank missions over the week, including the task entrusted by Kingpin.

With no more members of the Hand Clan left in the United States, Charles received 5000 reputation points, 500,000 copper coins, and ten ordinary treasure chests as rewards for these ten C-rank missions.

In contrast, Kingpin's A-rank mission, which was completed successfully, awarded Charles 5000 reputation points, 500,000 copper coins, and one exquisite treasure chest.

It could be said that the rewards from a single A-rank mission were equivalent to those from ten C-rank missions.

With these achievements, Charles's reputation points had once again reached 13,500, his copper coins were restored to 1.7 million, and he had accumulated 72 gold coins.

As for the treasure chests, Charles had accumulated a total of 14 ordinary treasure chests and 1 exquisite treasure chest. He planned to open them all together once the dragon bones were in place.

Meanwhile, in a cemetery in New York, a funeral was taking place.

After Matt Murdock's death, his body and weapons had been retrieved by Foggy and were now being prepared for the funeral ceremony.

Due to Matt's exposure as Daredevil, people he had helped in various capacities, whether as a lawyer or as Daredevil himself, spontaneously gathered at the funeral site to pay their respects and leave flowers.

Foggy looked at the many attendees and felt a sense of relief for Matt's actions during his lifetime. At least Matt's deeds had made a positive impact.

However, he also felt deep sorrow for Matt's untimely death, returning him to the embrace of the Lord so soon.

Such a good person, a blind lawyer who helped people and fought for justice, had ultimately died at the hands of others.

The official autopsy indicated that Matt had died after being hit by a high-speed semi-truck, with all his ribs crushed.

But Foggy knew the truth was not that simple.

As Foggy was standing by the tombstone, lost in thought, an elderly man with a white cane appeared beside him and called out, "Foggy."

Startled by the voice, Foggy turned around and saw Stick, Matt's mentor.

Foggy's voice was filled with grief that he couldn't hide. He began to speak, "Matt... Matt was murdered."

Stick, with his expressionless face, showed signs of anger. He then said, "I know. I didn't expect that after I went to the japan, Matt would..."

...

Inside a stronghold of the Chaste in New York-

Foggy, a close friend of Matt Murdock, and Stick, Matt's mentor, stood before a coffin.

Inside the coffin lay Matt's body. After the funeral, Stick had his men dig up Matt's body and bring it back.

Stick and Matt shared the same blindness, and neither could see what was before them. Stick said with a hint of sorrow in his tone, "Foggy, did you also bury Matt's Billy Club alongside him?"

Foggy, looking at the coffin, wore a troubled expression but answered, "Yes, I buried it together with Matt."

"Sir, is there really a clue inside to find the person who killed Matt?" Foggy asked cautiously.

Stick remained silent for a moment and then slowly responded, "There will be clues."

"Bring it out, take the club out of the coffin."

Several members of the Chaste present at the scene approached and opened Matt Murdock's coffin, retrieving the Billy Club that had been buried alongside him.

Taking the Billy Club from his subordinates, Stick skillfully dismantled the upper half of the club, revealing the microphone and recorder hidden inside. He clicked on the playback button.

And Foggy, who had been standing by, could hardly believe it. He had always thought of Matt's Billy Club as a simple blind man's cane, but it turned out to be hiding so much.

As the recorder began to play, Matt's voice resonated.

As Stick adjusted the playback, Matt's voice finally came through from inside the club.

"Release the people you have tied up. Hell's Kitchen is not a place for your violence."

"You've killed so many people; now raise your hands and surrender to face the judgment of the law."

Hearing this, both Stick and Foggy understood that Matt must have been killed while trying to rescue someone.

As the recording continued, other voices became audible, indicating that Matt was not alone.

"Sir, are you sure you want to stop us?"

"Rock Lee, hurry up; the boss is waiting for us to bring the target back."

"I hope there won't be any more idiots trying to block our way."

Hearing his own disciple being referred to as an idiot, Stick gripped his walking cane, which was also a Billy Club.

Stick then said, "Go collect information about the location where Matt was found dead and what happened in the surrounding area. I don't believe there are no traces at Matt's death scene."

"And find out more about this guy named Rock Lee and the organization behind him. I want detailed information."

One of the Chaste members standing next to Stick spoke up, "Boss, during the time you were away, significant events occurred in New York."

"We have collected this information, and it also involves your disciple Matt Murdock. It's just that you received news of your disciple's death as soon as you returned, and you haven't had a chance to learn about it."

Upon hearing that his subordinates had already gathered information, Stick was somewhat surprised. He then looked at Foggy and said, "Foggy, the rest of this isn't suitable for you to know. You should go back."

Stick continued sternly, "I will avenge Matt!"

Hearing Stick's determination, Foggy realized that some things were better left unknown. He glanced sadly at his friend lying in the coffin before turning and leaving.

Once Foggy had left, Stick spoke again, "Report the gathered information to me."

The Chaste member who had just spoken took out a file and opened it. He then said, "Since a week ago, for unknown reasons, Charles Doyle, the Elder of the High Table, who controls the United States, declared war on the Hand within the country."

"On that day, all the assassins in the United States received the latest wanted notice from the Continental Hotel, with a reward totaling up to $200 million for killing any member of the Hand."

"On the day the reward was announced, all the factions under the High Table's control nearly simultaneously attacked various Hand bases within the United States."

"This included the building where Madame Gao was located, which was also attacked by three adjudicators under Charles Doyle's command."

"Among them, as you mentioned, Rock Lee is one of those adjudicators."

"According to the investigation, your disciple, Matt Murdock, went to stop the adjudication team and take Madam Gao away. He was shot dead on the spot."

Upon hearing this, Stick, with his intelligence, had already guessed what had happened. He couldn't help but curse, "Foolish!"

Madam Gao was their true enemy, and Matt had gone to rescue the leader of their enemies. It was simply beyond salvation!

He had warned Matt repeatedly not to trust his senses too much; seeing wasn't always believing, let alone hearing. And as it turned out, his disciple had fallen into this very trap.
